At the June 4 Sony State of Play, Silent Hill f got a brand-new trailer that offered gamers an even more terrifying glimpse into what this new chapter of the horror franchise has to offer. Silent Hill f has been highly anticipated ever since it was announced back in 2022, and the upcoming game promises an experience filled with terror.
What makes Silent Hill f so compelling is that it’s shaking up the franchise formula in a big way. Not only does Silent Hill f feature more combat than usual, it’s also bringing the series to a fictional town in Japan during the 1960s. It’s a thrilling departure for the series, but this could also ignite concerns that the game won’t feel like it’s fully part of the Silent Hill franchise. This worry is understandable, but thanks to the likes of one terrifying villain, it’s clear that Silent Hill f still shares plenty of its predecessors’ DNA.

One Terrifying Silent Hill f Enemy Type Feels Like a Tribute to the Franchise’s Nurses
Silent Hill 2’s Nurses Have Become Iconic Franchise Mascots
Of course, Silent Hill 2 isn’t the first time Nurse enemies have been featured in the series. Nurses have evolved since the first Silent Hill game, but Silent Hill 2‘s Bubble Head Nurse remains the go-to image a lot of fans immediately think of when remembering these enemies. From their jolting movement to their obscured faces, the Bubble Head Nurses are some of the most iconic horror villain designs in gaming, and Silent Hill f seems to have its own horrifying spin on the enemy type.
The story of Silent Hill f takes place in the fictional Japanese town of Ebisugaoka. Protagonist Hinako is a teenage schoolgirl who has been thrust into a nightmarish reality.
The Kashimashi Brings Spine-Chilling Body Horror to Silent Hill f
The name of this enemy type is the Kashimashi, and they appear to be grotesque, twisted women made out of doll parts. Like the Bubble Head Nurses, the Kashimashi move in an unnatural, jolting way that makes them even more uneasy to look at. Even worse, though, these new enemies seem to be even more violent than the Bubble Head Nurses.
The Silent Hill franchise is known for its monsters. Whether it be Pyramid Head or the Bubble Nurses, Silent Hill has continued to excel at horrifyingly beautiful creature design. The Kashimashi is no different. While incredibly unnerving, the design is incredibly eye-catching. An aggressive, knife-wielding doll is truly the stuff of nightmares, and it could have the potential to outshine the Bubble Head Nurses.
The Kashimashi isn’t the only horrifying enemy type to watch out for. There are the Ayakakashi, scarecrow-like school children, Oi-omoi, a mass of doll heads and arms, and the Ara-abare, a giant monster covered in flowers.
