Summary
- LEGO Voyagers and Out of Words were announced at Summer Game Fest 2025.
- Both of the upcoming titles are local (and online) co-op games with mute protagonists.
- SGF 2025 also saw the announcement of another co-op game, Scott Pilgrim EX, which is targeting a 2026 launch.
Fans of local co-op experiences now have two new titles to look forward to: LEGO Voyagers and Out of Words, both announced during the latest edition of Summer Game Fest. However, the wait for these games might require some patience, as their SGF 2025 trailers didn’t mention any release dates.
The rise of online gaming observed from the early 2010s onward directly correlates with a decline in local multiplayer titles. However, some games still aim to combine both couch and online co-op, including recent titles such as Split Fiction, Rotwood, Chained Together, and Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy.

Each player controls one brick, with the duo having to work in tandem to overcome numerous challenges and navigate through various environments. Out of Words is a collaboration between game developer Kong Orange and animation studio WiredFly, both based out of Denmark. It casts players as Karla and Kurt, two characters who have lost their mouths and are searching for a way out of their predicament. Detailed stop-motion animation is one of the game’s defining features, with the story’s stakes tied to the future of Vokabulantis, the fictional realm in which Out of Words takes place. Vokabulantis is also the project’s original name, dating back to an early 2021 Kickstarter campaign that raised the equivalent of approximately $100,000.
In addition to featuring mute protagonists, LEGO Voyagers and Out of Words will both support couch and online co-op. Neither title has a confirmed release date yet, though Out of Words is confirmed to be targeting a 2026 launch. Summer Game Fest 2025 also saw the announcement of another local co-op game in the form of Scott Pilgrim EX, which is planned for a 2026 release.
