Donkey Kong Bananza Confirms Helpful Feature

Donkey Kong Bananza has just confirmed a new feature that will make exploring and interacting with the game’s destructible environment much easier, with players able to reset any destroyed terrain. Nintendo’s great ape is returning for his first major solo outing since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on July 17, and the title aims to shake up the franchise in many ways. Donkey Kong Bananza sees DK team up with a young Pauline to explore the underground world of Ingot Isle and discover the treasure of the Banandium Gems.

Along the way, DK will need to use his incredible strength to smash through enemies and obstacles, and Donkey Kong Bananza will allow players to destroy even the dirt beneath their feet. DK can use a Dive Punch to tunnel his way into the ground, rip up chunks of land to swing at foes or use as a boost while jumping, and even build makeshift bridges and ladders by sticking softer dirt materials onto hard rock walls in a way that is already being compared to 2023’s Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo reveals the updated file size for Donkey Kong Bananza ahead of its highly anticipated release on Nintendo Switch 2 next month.

Even Donkey Kong can make mistakes, but luckily, Donkey Kong Bananza will allow players to undo any interactions with the environment. According to the official Nintendo UK Twitter account, players can restore the surrounding terrain from Donkey Kong Bananza’s map screen, either to reverse a mistake or to simply have fun wrecking the dirt and cliffsides all over again. This announcement is accompanied by a short video of DK reducing a nearby hill to rubble.

Donkey Kong Bananza Lets Players Reset Destroyed Terrain

Destruction and interaction with the environment seem to be the primary focus of Donkey Kong Bananza’s gameplay. This is fitting, as the game’s story is about plunging deep into an underground world and reaching the core of the planet, where Pauline hopes to have her wish of returning home to the surface world granted. While there is currently no online demo available for players to try out Donkey Kong Bananza for themselves, certain retailers reportedly have it as part of their Switch 2 kiosks.

It won’t be too much longer before the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17, and fans are already excited to embark on Donkey Kong’s latest adventure thanks to the hype drummed up by last week’s big Nintendo Direct livestream.
