In A Game Filled With Hot Characters, Players Are Down Bad For These Unconventional Choices

It’s no surprise that Date Everything has one of the hottest casts around – as a dating sim with over 100 romanceable characters, at least a few of them were guaranteed to wind up drop-dead gorgeous. And while players have certainly been swooning over the likes of Dorian the Door or the electric duo Eddie and Volt, Date Everything players have also been loving some options who might not be considered “conventionally attractive,” but have amassed quite their share of fans. Among these, Doug, the “player’s sense of existential dread,” and xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx, the living shadow, have become particularly popular immediately following the game’s release.

Doug’s Body And Voice Make Up For His “Blank Slate” Looks

Doug, also known as “the lingering sense of existential dread,” is one of the hardest Dateables to find in Date Everything. Meeting him requires staring at a specific blank wall behind the stairs for 30-60 seconds without moving or interacting in any way. True to his nature, Doug is abrasive and gruff, immediately christening the player “Dork” and forcing them to participate in activities such as doomscrolling and solving a genuinely tricky sudoku puzzle.

Despite that, many players on social media have quickly labeled Doug as one of their favorite Dateables. He has received praise for his extremely muscular body, his self-confidence, and his deep, sonorous voice courtesy of Delicious in Dungeon‘s SungWon Cho. On Reddit, user stupidity_what described Doug as “perfect the way he is,” while funnyahhcat called him “the embodiment of glorious perfection.” Even developer Robbie Daymond got in on the Doug love, sharing some spicy fanart of the Dateable via his X account.

xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx Has An Excellent Story For Those Who Can Get Past His Name

Another hidden Dateable, xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx is a “living shadow” voiced by Persona 3 Reload‘s Aleks Le. He’s so well-hidden that players might not even become aware of his existence until Maggie the Magnifying Glass provides them with a “Roomer” about his location. Once encountered, however, xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx reveals his rather unique appearance: he appears as a fully shadow-wrapped demon with horns and long claws.

Players who weren’t immediately put off by xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx’s edgy personality, however, may grow quite attracted to the “darkness incarnate.” He’s surprisingly romantic, referring to the player as his “penumbra” and quickly growing attached to anyone who shares his appreciation for all things dark. Getting to know xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx can result in the eldritch creature revealing a shyer – but still darkness-loving – personality known as “Skips.”

On Reddit and X, xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx is the subject of several topics and threads praising his writing and appearance. “The little goth teenager in me is LIVING,” enthuses Reddit user Acatidthelmt. User rottze declares “If you don’t love him at his skips, you don’t deserve him at his XxXShadowl0rd420Xx.” Many users have debated which of his forms – the eldritch Shadowlord or the more humanoid Skips – is the more attractive, with the general consensus being “both” but several admitting a not-so-secret fondness for his dark and creepy look.

Doug and xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx are far from the only Date Everything characters with unusual appearances who users have found attractive. Sinclaire the Sink, who has a sink for a head, is beloved for being a hilarious take on the “isekai” genre popular in anime and manga. Dishy the Dishwasher, a dishwasher with legs, has been dubbed “uncanny valley” and “terrifying,” but some players have a secret fondness for the “smart appliance” despite his unconventional looks. Date Everything has truly got something for everyone – or, perhaps, given its extremely large cast, several somethings for everyone, including an edgy living shadow or the grumpy personification of existential dread.
