Should You Romance Sciel Or Lune In Clair Obscur Expedition 33?

The characters and story are some of the strongest components of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which gets players hooked on its world. The game allows players to rank up their relationships with their party members, which unlocks their exclusive abilities, making them more viable in combat and exploration sequences. Apart from the standard relationships, players also have an opportunity to either romance Sciel or Lune in their playthrough. Let’s see if romancing either of them impacts the narrative down the line.

This guide may contain spoilers for Clair Obscur Expedition 33’s Act 2, specifically when it comes to relationships with characters.

There are plenty of optional things to do before the final boss of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but these are the best things to prioritize.

Should You Romance Sciel or Lune in Clair Obscur Expedition 33?

Players will be introduced to the relationship mechanics once they progress through Act 1 and enter Act 2 of the Clair Obscur Expedition 33. This mechanic allows you to talk to other party members in the camp. Ranking up relationship levels with other party members will unlock their unique skills that will be essential as you move towards the latter half of the game.

The relationship mechanic also has a rather hidden romance mechanic, where players will be able to get together with either Sciel or Lune. The romance option for Sciel comes way earlier than Lune’s, and going for the former will lock you out of being with the latter. There aren’t any tangible gameplay benefits to choosing Sciel over Lune, and vice versa. It’s a strictly role-playing choice that lets players establish a romantic relationship with a character they prefer.

Players will need to keep returning to camp from the world and talk to Sciel or Lune when the opportunity arises to level up their relationship levels.

Romancing Sciel

Sciel is the first of the two romance options in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. You’ll need to progress her relationship level to three in Act Two to gain access to the romancing dialog options. Choosing to reciprocate Sciel’s romantic advances will lead to a few heartfelt and intimate moments between the two.

While Sciel is a great romantic option, she longs for her missing husband and will always prefer him over Verso. Without spoiling anything, Verso and Sciel would prefer to be friends later in the game, which is a bittersweet moment for players who were looking for them to be a strong couple by the end.

Romancing Lune

The option to romance Lune comes way later in the game, Act three, to be precise. There’s a strong chemistry between Verso and Lune that players can feel throughout Clair Obscur Expedition 33’s story. However, you’ll have to progress her relationship level to five before unlocking the romantic path. Players will also need to reject all Sciel’s romantic advances and complete the Sirene’s Dress side quest.

Similar to Sciel, pursuing a romantic relationship with Lune won’t have any impact on the gameplay. However, it’ll allow you to peel another layer of the character’s lore and experience their lore and learn their motivations in detail. You can still experience the other romantic path in the New Game+ mode.
