  • Premium tier adds Deus Ex: The Conspiracy and upcoming classic games.
  • Exciting day one games like Sword of the Sea and FBC: Firebreak coming soon.

The latest PlayStation State of Play event included some exciting announcements for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Most of the time, new PlayStation Plus announcements happen at two specific points each month – the middle and the end – but Sony has been spoiling subscribers lately with surprise announcements.

The first surprise PlayStation Plus announcement came as part of the ongoing Days of Play event. Bonus games have been added to the Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers of the service, including Destiny 2: The Final Shape for Essential subscribers and Another Crab’s Treasure for those that are signed up for the Extra and Premium tiers. There are still some new additions coming as part of the bonus Days of Play PS Plus games, but now subscribers have even more to look forward to in the near future.

The latest update to the PlayStation Plus subscription service gives Extra tier members a massive game to play.

It was confirmed during the latest State of Play event that the PS2 version of Deux Ex: The Conspiracy will be added to the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus on June 17. PS Plus Premium subscribers can also look forward to Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal 4 on July 15, while the PS1 versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are coming later this summer. It was also confirmed that PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can play day one game Sword of the Sea on August 19. Clearly, the next few months are going to be exciting for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Upcoming PS Plus Games

  • Deus Ex: The Conspiracy – June 17 (Premium)
  • FBC: Firebreak – June 17
  • Twisted Metal 3 – July 15 (Premium)
  • Twisted Metal 4 – July 15 (Premium)
  • Sword of the Sea – August 19
  • Resident Evil 2 – Summer 2025 (Premium)
  • Resident Evil 3 – Summer 2025 (Premium)

Sword of the Sea, for the uninitiated, is the new game from the artist behind Abzu, The Pathless, and Journey. Sword of the Sea is an action-adventure/platformer that takes direct inspiration from classic skateboarding games like the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, except instead of skateboard, players travel around on a sword. Sword of the Sea boasts views that are nothing short of stunning and should make a great addition to the PS Plus Extra library when it launches on August 19.

Sword of the Sea isn’t the only day one game that’s on deck for PlayStation Plus. On June 17, the same day that Deus Ex: The Conspiracy is added to the Premium tier, subscribers can look forward to playing FBC: Firebreak as a day one game. FBC: Firebreak is from Remedy Entertainment, the studio that made Alan Wake and Control, and it’s a co-op FPS set in the same universe as those titles. Between it, Sword of the Sea, and the classic games making their way to PS Plus Premium, this summer is looking pretty stacked for PS Plus.
