A new SpongeBob SquarePants video game may soon be revealed to the world, according to a recently published game rating in a couple of different countries. The previously unannounced title, which, according to the rating, is called SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide, seems to be exciting many folks in the SpongeBob SquarePants fandom.

While SpongeBob SquarePants has retained its popularity over the last quarter-century in terms of the animated series, video games based on the IP have only recently gone through a resurgence. The 2000s saw the release of heyday classics like SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie game, whereas the 2010s saw a lull in the franchise’s game significance. Resurgence began with 2020’s Battle for Bikini Bottom remake, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake in 2024, and most recently SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game – now available on Xbox Game Pass – and now with a new game surfacing.

News of SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide‘s existence comes by way of a game rating classification from South Korea and Germany, which was posted on the forum website ResetEra. While information on what the new SpongeBob SquarePants game will be about is scant, it simply states it will be an “action” game, and is being published by THQ Nordic, the same company behind the IP’s 2020s resurgence.

Some fans believe SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide could be the new SpongeBob game teased for 2025 late last year. THQ Nordic dropped a trailer last Halloween, featuring humorously spooky scenes from their past few SpongeBob SquarePants game releases, ending with a tease that “An all-new adventure awaits.” While there doesn’t seem to have been much in the way of additional news about the game since the teaser, this could certainly be the game that was being referred to.

Although the seemingly accidental potential reveal of SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide is certainly major news for the franchise, a recent leak reveals SpongeBob may soon be in another video game. In a potential leak of upcoming DLC, SpongeBob and company may soon be in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, a kart racer game growing more apt in its title.

Between SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide‘s apparent reveal and the supposed addition into Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the SpongeBob SquarePants video game renaissance appears to be in full swing. However, some fans believe it wouldn’t be complete without a LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants game. Given LEGO’s success with numerous other IP, including Star Wars and Fortnite, the two entities collaborating on a game certainly has the potential to be a massive success.
