According to leaker TheGhostOfHope, 2026’s Call of Duty game, titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 사, is in development at Infinity Ward. It was revealed that the campaign mode would involve South Korea as well as North Korea in a “significant role,” suggesting that the Korean peninsula could be the setting for next year’s game. “사” is the word for the number 4 in the Korean language, making the upcoming title Modern Warfare 4. Interestingly, this location was last rumored to act as a key location in Call of Duty in 2021, several months before Vanguard came out. Talking about the story, the source stated that the player will play as the 141, SAS, and Republic of Korea Army factions, while they will go up against Makarov and Konni Group to thwart their false flag operations done to catalyze another World War. Apparently, Modern Warfare 4‘s campaign would pick up right after the end of Modern Warfare 3‘s story. It was also shared that there would be “some” futuristic weapons and technology, with the game still being “mostly modern.” Additionally, there was confirmation about the DMZ mode returning with its third mode.
