What Happened in the Star Wars x Fortnite Event?
The Death Star Sabotage event begins with the player landing on the Death Star, disguised as either a prisoner or a Stormtrooper. The players are able to lower the defenses of the Death Star from within, and then they are joined by Jones, Hope, and even Fishstick. However, things go south for the crew as the Empire catches wind of their deception, and now it’s up to players to battle through the Death Star, fighting Stormtroopers, all while X-Wings outside in space make a trench run to destroy the dreaded planet destroyer from the outside.
Jones and Hope are eventually separated, and Jones, with the player, find themselves in a TIE Fighter hanger. However, Emperor Palpatine makes his presence known, and uses his lightsaber to block blaster fire, and then he uses the Force to take all weapons and electrocute players. Thankfully, Hope comes to the rescue with a Rift-To-Go, and the crew escapes while the X-Wing pilots manage to destroy the Death Star.
The Death Star is destroyed before it’s able to fire its laser upon the island, thus saving reality. However, pieces of the Death Star begin to fall onto the island, destroying POIs and imbuing the player with a strange purple energy that could indicate new powers for Chapter 6 Season 3. With the event over, downtime begins, but not before Superman looks to the Battle Royale island, teasing his arrival in just a few hours. What POIs have been destroyed and what powers are now on the island, remain to be seen…
