Destiny 2 Making Big Change to Armor in Edge of Fate

Ahead of the Edge of Fate expansion launch in July, Bungie teased major changes coming to the armor system in Destiny 2. The anticipation for the upcoming Edge of Fate expansion for Destiny 2 continues to rise as Bungie shares new information about how the content will be shaking up and evolving the current experience for players.

Early in May, Bungie began its massive reveal of Destiny 2‘s Year of Prophecy, the next phase of the game formerly known as Codename: Frontiers. Part of that reveal was new gameplay for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate as well as a dedicated release date on July 15. Focusing on the mysterious faction known as The Nine, players will be venturing to the planetoid called Kepler and learning new destination abilities. However, in addition to new content, Bungie is also planning many changes to the core experience, including how armor works.

Destiny 2 Armor System Adds Geir Teiring and New Stats

Of The numerous adjustments coming to Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate, one of the bigger changes is that gear stats are being overhauled completely. All the old stats will be changing to the following:

  • Mobility is now Weapons
  • Resilience is now Health
  • Recovery is now Class
  • Strength is now Melee
  • Discipline is now Grenade
  • Intellect is now Super

As Bungie describes it in the weekly blog, Health will assist flinch resistance, healing and shield recharging. Melee, Class, and Grenade improve the ability cooldown, damage, and energy gained, while Super impacts the amount of energy gained from defeating energy as well as the overall damage value. Finally, Weapon impacts things like reload and handling speeds, damage versus enemies, as well as boosted ammo drops. Bungie also confirmed that the old stats of Mobility, Resilience, and Recovery will have fixed values of 30/40, 100, and 60 respectively.

Bungie is aiming for The Edge of Fate to be a new evolution of the game, going as far as revealing a new Destiny 2 roadmap of content for the upcoming year. The first major update, known as Ash & Iron arrives on September 9, while a Star Wars-inspired expansion called Renegades is targeting a December 2 launch. Finally, a second major update called Shadow & Order hits on March 3, bringing new content, activities, rewards passes, and more.
