Summary
- Build a Rocket Boy asks gamers not to play MindsEye before official release due to early arrivals.
- MindsEye team desires players to have the same experience at launch without encountering current issues.
- Early copy reviewers suggest game requires improvements, but company remains confident in upcoming patch.
Build a Rocket Boy, the developer of MindsEye, has made a request, asking gamers to not play the game until its official release date. This shouldn’t be a problem for most players, but some copies of MindsEye have reportedly arrived earlier than expected, giving select gamers a chance to try it out before it officially hits store shelves.
While it hasn’t been an issue with every single game ever released, in recent times, there have been notable instances of gamers getting their hands on titles before they’re supposed to be out. In one case, Nintendo even sued a content creator for streaming its games before they were officially released.

MindsEye Director Explains the Game’s Shorter Than Expected Length
MindsEye Director Leslie Benzies promises Mindseye’s short main story length will only improve the game’s overall experience.
Now, the MindsEye team has issued an official statement, saying that the company is aware that some copies have arrived early, and they’re publicly asking anyone who gets an early copy to wait until the actual release date for MindsEye. The team says they “want everyone to experience the story the same way at the same time on day one,” but more than that, they don’t want players diving into an experience that wasn’t intended to be played in its current state. MindsEye is slated to get a day one patch, but that isn’t available to download prior to the release date, so anyone diving into the game prior to June 10 may have an inferior experience.
MindsEye Patch May Be a Big Help
At least one player who got an early copy reviewed their early experience with the game, expressing that it was less than perfect. They claimed that there were frame rate drops, blurriness problems, a game-breaking bug, and that the current build “needs some love.” This seems to be in keeping with what some said after a hands-on experience with the game, but the co-CEO of Build a Rocket Boy refuted these claims, saying that they were made in an effort to trash the game. Given the confidence in the game and its upcoming patch, presumably, the development team has already fixed all the issues that legitimate early reports are pointing out, and those fixes will be shipped via the day one patch.
Gamers have been curious about MindsEye ever since it was announced, with the title coming from the former president of Rockstar North, who also led the development of multiple Grand Theft Auto games. The game is set to take players to a “near future” in Redrock City, and numerous GTA fans have been eagerly awaiting the game. The title could have a very bright future ahead of it, especially with the intriguing Everywhere Metaverse-like experience that MindsEye will be a part of. Whether MindsEye can live up to the hype remains to be seen, but gamers shouldn’t try to gauge whether it’s been successful until June 10, when the day one patch lands.
