In addition to upgrades for your Bomb Bag, Quiver, and Magic Meter capacity, The Wind Waker players can increase the number of rupees they can hold by finding a bigger Wallet. You start the game with a Wallet that can only carry up to 200 Rupees total, but if you know where to go, you can unlock the ability to carry up to 5,000 Rupees – way more than you need for any of the highest-priced items in the game.

Where To Get The Bigger Wallet In Wind Waker
Wallet Upgrade #1, Holds Up To 1,000 Rupees
The first Zelda: The Wind Waker Wallet upgrade is the Bigger Wallet. This upgrade will massively increase the total number of Rupees Link can hold from the default 200 to a whopping 1,000. This will allow Link to purchase more expensive items than normal, such as the Heart Piece that Beedle sells for 950 Rupees on his Shop Ship just outside of Rock Spire Isle (on tile B-3).
To find the Bigger Wallet upgrade, Wind Waker players should return to Link’s home village on Outset Island.
- Go up to the top of the bridge that you crossed to rescue Tetra, on the west side of the island.
- Play the Wind’s Requiem with the Wind Waker and direct the wind across the now-broken bridge.
- Use the Deku Leaf to float to the other side of the gap and enter the Forest.
Once you reach the forest, look for a destructible rock. Destroy this with a bomb and jump into the hole that is revealed to find a Great Fairy. The Great Fairy will give Link the Bigger Wallet and refill his Hearts.
Always keep an empty Bottle on hand when you visit a Great Fairy Fountain. There are usually multiple Fairies floating around the central fountain, which you can collect. These can be consumed to instantly heal Link to full HP, but they will also automatically activate if he reaches 0 Hearts.

Where To Get The Biggest Wallet In Wind Waker
Wallet Upgrade #2, Holds Up To 5,000 Rupees
The second wallet upgrade The Wind Waker players can find will let Link carry up to 5,000 Rupees, more than enough to purchase anything in the game. It can be found on Northern Fairy Island.
Northern Fairy Island is located on square C-1, two squares to the right of the Forsaken Fortress. You do not have to have any special items to get into this Fairy Fountain – simply walk into the gigantic shell and talk to the Great Fairy to get the Biggest Wallet.
If you did not collect the Bigger Wallet on Outset Island, the Great Fairy on Northern Fairy Island will give you that instead. Return to Outset Island and complete the steps listed above to get the Biggest Wallet after – both Wind Waker wallet upgrades can be collected in any order.
