Season 17 of Overwatch 2 is officially live, bringing a slew of new content to the first-person shooter. A refresh of the Battle Pass, the first-ever dual Mythic skin release, and the new Aatlis Flashpoint map are just some of the things that arrived in the latest season.

Blizzard shares more about Overwatch 2 Season 17 in a new developer livestream, and reveals a couple of major upcoming map tweaks.
Now, to celebrate the update, Overwatch 2 has begun a new Twitch Drop campaign. Fans who watch five hours of any Overwatch 2 streamers on Twitch can earn two free Loot Boxes, one of which is of the Epic variety. This campaign is active now through July 6, giving players just under two weeks to complete it.
How to Get Overwatch 2 Season 17 Twitch Drops
- Connect one’s Battle.net and Twitch accounts
-
Watch any Twitch streamers in the Overwatch 2 category from now through July 6, 11:58 PM PT to earn the following rewards:
- 2 hours: Loot Box
- 5 hours: Epic Loot Box
- Once complete, claim rewards from the Twitch Drops inventory
- Loot Boxes will automatically appear in Overwatch 2
Many prior Twitch Drop campaigns in Overwatch 2 offered free skins – and while some were brand-new, most were previously available from the shop. However, the mid-Season 15 and 16 Twitch Drops in Overwatch 2 gave out free Loot Boxes instead, setting a pattern followed by the main Season 17 drop. While there has been no word from Blizzard on whether it plans to follow this precedent indefinitely, it seems like fans can likely expect Loot Boxes to be the new default for Twitch Drops moving forward.
These Twitch Drop Loot Boxes are separate from those that can be earned via the Powered Up event, which started along with Overwatch 2 Season 17. From now through the end of June, players can earn up to four more Epic Loot Boxes just by playing the game, which are awarded after 3, 8, 12, and 17 games, with wins and Stadium games counting for double progress. Every four Epic Loot Boxes contain a guaranteed Legendary item, so fans who collect the ones from the Powered Up event and the Twitch Drops will earn one of these chase cosmetics while also getting a quarter of the way towards their next one.
