Project Motor Racing Release Date Revealed

Project Motor Racing is set to launch on November 25, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Project Motor Racing, formerly GTR Revival, was first announced in a Twitter post by creator Ian Bell back on September 22, 2022, the lead behind GTR, GT Legends, Project CARS, Need for Speed, and Test Drive. Developed by key members of the team behind GTR 2, the game is positioned as a spiritual successor to the legendary GTR series, iterating on the best the franchise has to offer.

While initially slated for a late 2024 release, Project Motor Racing’s development cycle has undergone some hiccups, which were eventually resolved with a rebrand and GIANTS Software becoming the game’s publisher, taking up the mantle from PLAION, formerly known as Koch Media.

In a new reveal trailer on YouTube, Project Motor Racing has received a final release date of November 25. Project Motor Racing is being developed using the mod-friendly GIANTS Engine 10, the same engine as Farming Simulator. In addition to the Career mode, PMR is also set to feature online multiplayer racing, though details on how this mode will function are still sparse at this time. At launch, PMR will feature 27 unique tracks, all one-to-one recreations of real-life locations, as well as 72 cars from 10 different racing classes.

Ian Bell Announces Project Motor Racing Release Date

Unlike traditional realistic racing sims, Project Motor Racing’s aim is to simulate the life of a professional motorsports racer in its Career mode, and all the complications that come with it. The idea is to create an “authentic motorsports economy” by seeing the racing world through a real driver’s eyes. New cars aren’t unlocked automatically after winning races, but are bought using cash earned by completing races. The expenses aren’t limited to new purchases either; travel costs, repairs, and costs of entry also eat up a significant portion of the driver’s income.

In Project Motor Racing’s Career mode, the goal isn’t to win every race, but to carve out a living in the cutthroat world of racing. Financial stability will need to be achieved using sponsorships, negotiations, and consistency. Players will be able to choose how they enter the motorsports world by choosing between Journeyman Driver, Professional Level, and Global Operation, each offering a different financial starting point. Additionally, it will also be possible to choose a region—Europe, North America, or Asia—which will have an effect on the in-game economy in the form of the pricing of car parts, repairs, and services.

While a large number of fans are certainly looking forward to the release of PMR and how it differs from the standard racing sim, some may choose to hold off on pre-ordering. Given Ian Bell’s varied track record, especially the mixed reception of Project CARS 3, potential buyers may opt to wait for reviews before committing.
