How To Pass In Rematch

Rematch - How To Pass

There are a number of ways to pass in Rematch, and players will want to use different passes depending on how far away their target is, whether defenders are in the way, and how much time they have.

Importantly, all of the following methods allow players to input passing commands before they have the ball. Doing so will pass or volley the ball immediately, without taking a touch.

Normal Pass Along The Ground

Rematch - Pass Into Box

  • Xbox: X (Aimed with LS)
  • PlayStation: Square (Aimed with L3)
  • PC: RMB (Aimed by dragging Mouse)

This is the standard pass in Rematch and should be used when playing it to feet or for some through balls. Arriving on the floor, it is easier for the receiver to control, and there’s no danger of accidentally lobbing them.

Players can hold down X/Square/RMB to put more power into the pass. If the ball is in the air, this command will head the ball away. Use this defensively, in midfield, or even to head the ball in.

The best thing about these passing mechanics, and the following lob pass, is that controller users can pass in any direction using the Left Stick. This is the blue line when passing, and while players are charging up the pass, they can still change direction. Best of all, is passing behind without looking, which is much faster than turning around. Use this to clear the ball in defense or when stuck in the corner.

These passing mechanics can also be used to score goals, especially with not having to look at the goal.

Lob Pass

  • Xbox: X + RB (Aimed with LS)
  • PlayStation: Square + R1 (Aimed with L3)
  • PC: X (Aimed by dragging Mouse)

The Lob Pass functions the same as the standard pass, but puts the ball into the air. It’s useful for crosses, through balls, and getting the ball over defenders.

Use The Shoot Button For Long Passes

Rematch - Shoot For Long Pass

  • Xbox: RT
  • PlayStation: R2
  • PC: LMB

Aside from the ‘actual’ pass buttons, players can also use the shoot button to pass. This is the most powerful way to kick the ball, making it ideal for long passes. In many cases, the lob pass can be too weak and will drop off in pace, allowing opponents to pick it up.

Keepers also use this kick for long passes upfield. Although they can also use the normal pass to roll the ball out or the lob pass to throw it out.

This powerful kick can be used in defensive clearances, balls out wide to wingers, and also for pacy crosses. It’s also great for bouncing the ball off the back wall for easy volleys in. Players can apply curve to find teammates and also use this mechanic midair as a volley.

The downside, compared with regular passing, is that players must be looking at where they want to kick the ball.
