PS5 Console Exclusive Launching August 14

Sony has announced that Midnight Murder Club, an upcoming PlayStation 5 console exclusive, will leave early access and launch on Thursday, August 14. Described as a “horror party game,” Midnight Murder Club hasn’t drawn all that many players in early access, but it has managed to get “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam and 4.49 stars on the PlayStation Store.

This past year has been a mixed back when it comes to PlayStation-published games. PlayStation won Game of the Year with Astro Bot, but it was also forced to shut down live-service shooter game Concord mere days after it launched. More recently, Marathon was indefinitely delayed by Bungie, with some worried that the upcoming extraction shooter will slip to 2026.

While there have been some bumps in the road, the future is looking bright for PlayStation, with Death Stranding 2 earning critical acclaim and Ghost of Yotei positioned to be one of the biggest new game releases of the fall. Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei aren’t the only PS5 console exclusive games on the horizon. Midnight Murder Club is officially launching on August 14, with the game’s early access version available now for those that can’t wait. For the uninitiated, Midnight Murder Club is a first-person multiplayer game where players explore a deadly mansion filled with all kinds of dangerous hazards. Midnight Murder Club Release Date

  • Thursday, August 14 for and PS5

Midnight Murder Club is a PS5 console exclusive, meaning the only place console gamers can check it out is through Sony’s latest home console. However, the game will also be available on PC the same day as PS5, which is a rare move by Sony. Most of the time, PlayStation games land on PS5 first and are pure exclusives for at least a year before eventually making their way to PC. Midnight Murder Club is an exception to the rule, though it’s not the only game that Sony has released on PC the same day as its PS5 counterpart.

Helldivers 2 was released for both PC and PS5 when it first launched, as was Concord. Looking ahead, Marathon is even going to be available on Xbox. It will be interesting to see if Sony continues to experiment with multi-platform releases for its multiplayer games, but for now, Midnight Murder Club remains a PS5 console exclusive.
