An Elden Ring fan has shared their impressive Malenia cosplay with the soulslike fandom, bringing the Demigod boss’ second Goddess of Rot phase to life in striking detail. Elden Ring was first unleashed to gamers back in 2022 by FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment, and immediately gained immense success thanks to the challenging battles, open-world exploration, and intriguing, dark fantasy lore created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin.
Since Elden Ring’s release, the IP received a mammoth Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in 2024, and has recently welcomed a co-op spin-off to the series. Nearly one month after its release, new Elden Ring Nightreign content has caused a massive player spike on Steam, thanks to the Gaping Jaw Everdark Sovereign boss addition. Still, despite the spin-off’s popularity, fans continuously share a lot of love for the base game and its epic adversaries.

Posted on Reddit by edhel_cosplay, a photo was shared on the Elden Ring subreddit showing a fan’s beautiful cosplay of Malenia, Goddess of Rot, similar to another Elden Ring fan’s Malenia cosplay complete with rot butterflies. The cosplayer noted they were wearing a full opaque bodysuit rocking the character’s prosthetic arm, and the wings were covered in butterflies. The fan added that they wanted to be challenged creatively, as they had already cosplayed Malenia’s original form prior.

Fellow fans and Redditors were quick to point out how immaculate the butterfly wings looked, and the cosplayer responded that they took months to craft. Others thought the cosplay looked so real that it triggered the memory of their hardship battling the enemy in-game, and some were convinced Malenia broke the fourth wall to manifest in reality. Additionally, fans were stunned when Malenia’s second phase appeared in an Elden Ring fan’s handmade diorama honoring Let Me Solo Her, proving the boss is a favorite enemy within the crafty community.
Malenia’s two phases consist of the first Blade of Miquella stage, followed by Goddess of Rot, and the optional boss dwelling in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree is known to be the Empyrean twin sister of Miquella. Transcending the boss’ in-game existence, Alex Garland and A24’s in-production Elden Ring movie is the talk of the gaming town, and fans already have a list of actors who could play Malenia, including Dune’s Rebecca Ferguson, Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke, and The Amazing Spider-Man’s Emma Stone.
