7 Days To Die Brings The Storm
7 Days To Die is a grueling survival horror title in which players are pitted against not just hordes of zombies, but the gritty realities of starvation, illness, extreme weather, and more. The game spent over a decade in Early Access before officially releasing in July 2024, with developer The Fun Pimps releasing consistent updates throughout.
The highly anticipated Storms Brewing 2.0 update for 7 Days to Die will add more dynamic and extreme weather to each of the game’s biomes, including severe storms and the lurking threat of heat, cold, and radiation damage. In addition, several new types of zombie will be added, including the desert-dwelling Plague Spitter and the highly irradiated Charged Blue and Infernal Orange. The Experimental version of the update will launch on June 16, with the Stable version currently scheduled for a June 30 release.
Phasmophobia Introduces Frightening Sounds
First released in 2020, Phasmophobia challenges a group of between one and four ghost hunters to correctly identify the type of entity haunting each location, while simultaneously they try to keep their sanity high enough so that the being does not hunt and kill them. Since its release, Phasmophobia has been highly popular with YouTube and Twitch streamers, and it has consistently added new haunting types, cursed objects, and more.
The massive Chronicle update for Phasmophobia, coming on June 24, introduces a new type of evidence: sound. Using the all-new Sound Recorder, players can record everything from creaking chairs to tortured screams. In addition, the Journal has been revamped, with sound, video, and photo evidence now classified as “Media.” Players will be challenged to collect as many different unique media types as possible to achieve a perfect investigation.
Five Nights at Freddy’s Mimic Takes Center Stage
Finally, the eleventh mainline title in the long-running Five Nights at Freddy’s series, Secret of the Mimic, will release on June 13, 2025. The game introduces a new location, the abandoned Murray’s Costume Manor, where players will face down the Mimic, a powerful endoskeleton capable of mimicking the appearance and abilities of other skeletons. Set in 1979, the game is one of the earliest Five Nights at Freddy’s titles, chronologically, and it is hinted to reveal more about the animatronics’ origins.
The Mimic is a mysterious character who has appeared in the Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach‘s RUIN DLC as well as in the Tales from the Pizzaplex book series. His origins and backstory are largely unknown, and Secret of the Mimic is theorized to reveal a lot more about this strange figure and his connection to the series as a whole.
With these new games and updates, June 2025 promises to be a month filled with terror, with plenty of titles that horror game fans should keep an eye on. And that’s not all – several other June 2025 games will likely feature a horrifying moment or two, such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and the frights will continue in July with the release of Killing Floor 3, among other titles. Overall, the summer of 2025 promises to be filled with thrills and chills that horror gaming enthusiasts can enjoy.
