Among the many different crafting materials and components in Dune: Awakening, Irradiated Slag is among the riskiest ones to get in Hagga Basin. However, the threat here isn’t from NPCs or other players (to an extent). Instead, it comes from the environment itself.
Irradiated Slag is needed for a number of crafting recipes for Dune: Awakening’s endgame, and to get it, players will need to brave the irradiated southwest side of Hagga Basin. There’s a limit to how long one can stay here, so make sure to come thoroughly prepared.

Where to Get Irradiated Slag in Dune: Awakening
Irradiated Slag can be found inside wrecked ships scattered across Sheol, the southwestern portion of Hagga Basin that is completely covered in lethal radiation. Players who come to this zone without proper protection won’t have long before they turn into a bag of loot, so before you even think of going there, you’ll need a couple of things:
Radiation Suit
The Radiation Suit Mk4 is the first piece of anti-radiation players can get in Dune: Awakening. After you unlock its crafting recipe in the Research menu, you’ll need the following materials to build one at a Garment Fabricator:
- 35 Aluminum Ingot
- 21 Plasteel Microflora Fiber
- 25 Silicone Blocks
- 340 Water
Aluminum ore can be mined in the Eastern Shield Wall region, while Plasteel Microflora Fiber can be found in the many Shipwrecks across Arrakis. Silicone Blocks, on the other hand, must be crafted at Refineries using Flour Sand.
The Radiation Suit Mk4 won’t make you immune to radiation. Instead, it will greatly increase your resistance to radiation. Combine this with Iodine Pills (crafted from Agave Seeds, Water, and a Duraluminum Ingot) to significantly extend the time you spend in Sheol.
Vehicles
At this point in the game, you should already have an Ornithopter ready. Not only are they great for covering the vast distance needed to reach Sheol, but they can help you escape quickly too, in case the radiation becomes too much for you to handle.
Alternatively, you can get a Sandbike with an upgraded engine. You can reach Sheol through the western side of the map with a sufficiently speedy Sandbike, but this is still incredibly risky. Sheol is surrounded by wide swathes of open sand, and you risk getting the attention of sandworms by driving over them. No one can outrun Shai-Halud
Irradiated Slag Locations
Much like Plastic Microflora Fiber, you can get Irradiated Slag by looting chests in Shipwrecks (except the latter crafting component is exclusive to Sheol). There are six Shipwrecks in Sheol, and the largest one being the Wreck of the Delphis, which is right in the middle of the area. All of these should have chests with Irradiated Slag in them.
