Dune: Awakening – Where to Find the Maas Kharet Assassin (Making a Martyr)

There are plenty of contracts for players to take in Dune: Awakening, and while all of them reward you with Solari Coins, the longer ones go the extra mile and give you unique equipment for your trouble too. Such is the case with the Dangerous Dealings questline, which culminates in the Making a Martyr quest.

In Making a Martyr, players are tasked with taking down one last Maas Kharet hitman somewhere in the O’odham region of Hagga Basin. This is a straightforward assassination job, but if you’re having trouble finding where the Maas Kharet assassin is, here’s a guide to help you out.

Before setting out into the unforgiving desert of Arrakis in Dune: Awakening, there are several unwritten rules players should become familiar with.

Making a Martyr – Maas Kharet Assassin Location

Once you finish the previous quest in the Dangerous Dealings contract line, you’ll immediately start Making a Martyr after contacting the contract issuer. This quest will send you to Imperial Testing Station 71, the same location where one of the Advanced Planetologist quests takes place in. The station is still inside the O’odham region, and it shouldn’t be far from your current location.

Follow your quest marker to Imperial Testing Station 71. There will be some Maas Kharet stationed in the entrance — take them out, then enter the facility to find even more Maas Kharet waiting for you deeper inside. This Imperial Testing Station is fairly small compared to the others, so exploring it shouldn’t take long at all.

Dune: Awakening Making a Martyr Maas Kharet Assassin

The Maas Kharet assassin you’re looking for is in the final area of the station, and to get to them, you need to get past the pentashield blocking the entrance. Search the facility for the ID band, then get ready to fight the assassin and his group.

While the assassin encounter isn’t what you’d call a boss fight, it can be a little overwhelming. There will be multiple melee and ranged enemies in the room, and if you mismanage your shield or your stamina, you’ll quickly find yourself on the floor. We recommend using the Trooper’s gravity grenades or the Swordmaster’s parry/riposte skills to make managing this crowd a lot easier.

Rewards

Dune: Awakening Thufir's Best stats

The assassin is an ordinary melee Maas Kharet fighter. Take him out, then contact the issuer again to claim your reward. Apart from XP and Solaris, you’ll also get a unique weapon for your trouble. It’s unclear if the unique weapon reward is the same for everybody, but in our case, we got Thufir’s Best, a hard-hitting sniper rifle.

Making a Martyr Bugged?

Dune Awakening Imperial testing Station 163 map

Players have been reporting that they’re unable to find the Maas Kharet assassin in Imperial Testing Station 71. This could be because another player has recently cleared the dungeon, and the enemies are yet to completely respawn. Waiting for a few minutes or so should make the assassin spawn in the final room of Station 71, but if they don’t, check Imperial Testing Station 163. There will be plenty of enemies there, so bring the best weapons you have.

During our playthrough, the assassin indeed spawned in Imperial Testing Station 71, which suggests that this issue has been fixed as of writing this guide. If this isn’t the case for you, head to Imperial Testing Station 163, which is directly northeast of Station 71.
