Bandai Namco and Rebel Wolves’ upcoming debut game, The Blood of Dawnwalker, appears to be similar to The Witcher and Ghost of Tsushima.

Confirmed Details of Blood of Dawnwalker Explained

Only two trailers have been previously released for Blood of Dawnwalker so far. The first was a brief cinematic trailer released in January 2025, showcasing the Blood of Dawnwalker’s protagonist, the titular Dawnwalker Coen, his sister Lunka, and several vampire antagonists, including their leader Brencis. During the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, a second trailer for Dawnwalker was revealed, detailing the impact vampires have on Vale Sangora’s people and more of Coen’s sword combat and vampiric abilities, such as Coen being able to temporarily teleport and drain enemies of their blood. Finally, on Tuesday, June 17th, Rebel Wolves announced that it will host a gameplay livestream on June 21.

A short trailer for Blood of Dawnwalker’s upcoming livestream was released along with a list of things players can expect to see during the livestream. The list included:

  • Over 15 mins of gameplay with presentation of features
  • Dev insights into the game’s magic, traversal, and combat systems
  • Epic music
  • And more!

Some of these features were already briefly teased in the livestream’s short announcement trailer. In it, players can witness quick glimpses of Dawnwalker’s pre-beta gameplay, such as a HUD with an objective compass, list of quests, and a bar seemingly displaying the time between night and sunrise. The trailer further highlights some stealth and combat elements of Blood of Dawnwalker, such as Coen having to investigate a cathedral from scaffolding and Coen fighting the vampire Xanthe, the Dark Mistress.

Expectations of Blood of Dawnwalker’s Gameplay Livestream

Based on the short gameplay reveal event announcement trailer, it appears Rebel Wolves will playthrough at least one quest of Dawnwalker to show off the title’s exploration, combat, and stealth gameplay. The trailer repeatedly shows Coen following the quest A Monk and a Saint, directing the Dawnwalker to travel to the Svartrau Cathedral from day to nightfall. Once inside the cathedral, Rebel Wolves will likely initiate one of Dawnwalker’s early boss encounters due to Xanthe taunting Coen about his vampirism and Coen struggling to fight the Dark Mistress and her trio of knights. Rebel Wolves will probably go in-depth on some of Coen’s abilities as the trailer appears to briefly show Coen going into a bloodlust state similar in appearance to God of War’s Spartan Rage ability.

In terms of real-world reveals, several Rebel Wolves developers will likely discuss their influences for Blood of Dawnwalker’s narrative and gameplay. For example, one developer in the trailer discusses, presumably in reference to Dawnwalker’s vampires, a feeling that, “… someone is watching you even if you’re, like, totally alone?” Another developer expresses Blood of Dawnwalker’s drive to immerse players in the world of Vale Sangora, no matter the playstyle. The livestream may additionally have Polish composer Piotr Musiał discuss how the music of Blood of Dawnwalker supports the game’s immersion and medieval vampiric feel. It’s unconfirmed if Musial is the official composer of Dawnwalker but he’s presumably at least one of the game’s composers based on him working on the music for Dawnwalker’s “Desperate Measures” piece.

Potential Dawnwalker Story Revelations from the Livestream

While The Blood of Dawnwalker’s upcoming gameplay reveal livestream is expected to primarily focus on the title’s mechanics, there is potential for Rebel Wolves to discuss a bit more on Dawnwalker’s world and narrative, too. For example, the Svartrau Cathedral appears to be the same cathedral shown during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 with a monk seemingly blessing a baby with blood. Rebel Wolves could possibly explore how Brencis’ vampire invasion has changed Vale Sangora’s culture, highlighting how they’ve even impacted the valley’s faith. The livestream may even reveal more details about Xanthe, who, according to Dawnwalker’s X account, is supposedly the oldest living vampire, having formerly been an ancient Greek priestess. With so many possibilities, those interested in the game will want to mark June 21 on their calendars.
