Pokemon GO Shares Important Detail About Hyper Training

Pokemon GO has confirmed that Shadow Pokemon are not eligible for Hyper Training. The new feature is related to Gold Bottle Caps, an upcoming item in Pokemon GO that has received mixed reactions from fans.

Earlier in June, Pokemon GO confirmed the debut of Gold Bottle Caps, a long-requested item taken from the mainline games that lets players maximize their Pokemon’s Individual Values (IVs). In the core games, when fans use a Gold Bottle Cap, their critter undergoes Hyper Training and instantly increases their stats. However, Hyper Training in Pokemon GO will be different and require players to complete various tasks with their Buddy Pokemon, including battling, exploring, and more. Now, Pokemon GO has revealed another important detail about Hyper Training and its restrictions.

Through an official Twitter post, Pokemon GO has confirmed that Shadow Pokemon aren’t suitable for Hyper Training through Bottle Caps. Shadow Pokemon can be very powerful in PvP battles or raids, so fans are often looking to obtain Shadow monsters with decent stats. Now that Pokemon GO‘s Gold Bottle Caps aren’t suitable for Shadow Pokemon, the news may be disappointing for some players who were hoping to power up their unpurified monsters. The developers added that Pokemon with already maxed-out stats cannot undergo Hyper Training either.

Pokemon GO Confirms Shadow Pokemon Cannot Undergo Hyper Training

Although Pokemon GO players had asked for Hyper Training to be available for quite some time, the reveal of Gold Bottle Caps was met with criticism because of its availability. The first wave of the item will be available solely by purchasing a GO Pass Deluxe during the upcoming Ancients Recovered event on June 23. For this reason, many fans have argued that Pokemon GO‘s Gold Bottle Caps aren’t F2P-friendly and lean more towards a pay-to-win feature. Some have also criticized the item for expiring too soon after obtainment. It is unclear whether Pokemon GO will add another way to acquire Gold Bottle Caps in the future, but the developers have stated that these items will be very rare, which could mean they will often be tied to limited events.

While many players aren’t content with Pokemon GO‘s approach to Gold Bottle Caps, some have shared their eagerness to purchase the GO Pass Deluxe to turn their rare shiny Pokemon into perfect specimens. For the most part, Hyper Training will be a game-changing feature for players. Pokemon GO‘s Ancients Recovered event is bringing back the fan-favorite Legendary Giants, and the free GO Pass guarantees players a Regi with a special background and a dressed-up Pikachu.
