An Xbox Game is Dominating the PlayStation Store Pre-Order Charts

Gears of War: Reloaded is currently at the top of the PS5 pre-order charts, with the once-Xbox-exclusive title quickly captivating Sony’s audience. Scheduled to be released on August 26 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, Gears of War: Reloaded is an updated version of the original Gears of War, released for the Xbox 360 nearly two decades ago.

Xbox remains a leader in the shooter genre, with the company not only preparing for the release of Gears of War: Reloaded this year, but also The Outer Worlds 2. During the recent Xbox Games Showcase, even more shooters were revealed, including the visually stunning Clockwork Revolution, High on Life 2, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Xbox isn’t keeping these shooters to itself, however, with all of these titles, except Clockwork Revolution, already confirmed to be coming to PS5 at launch. This multiplatform strategy is working, as one previously Xbox-exclusive title has already found incredible success two months ahead of its launch.

Gears Of War Reloaded: 5 Biggest New Improvements Confirmed For The Remaster

Gears of War: Reloaded is providing some pretty drastic improvements over the original classic, with these being the biggest.

As spotted by Pure Xbox, Gears of War: Reloaded is at the top of both the US and UK PSN pre-order charts, with the third-person shooter beating out the major first-party title Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The first Gears of War game to come to PlayStation is also ahead of College Football 26, Ready or Not, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, proving Xbox’s decision to bring Marcus Fenix’s original adventure to Sony’s console was a good one. Curiously, Gears of War: Reloaded‘s physical release will only be available for PS5 players, though all fans who pre-order either the physical or digital edition will get two exclusive character skins for use in the game’s multiplayer.

Unfortunately, the shooter’s recent beta, scheduled to be held from June 13 to June 15, didn’t go as planned. While plenty of eager fans jumped in to experience the remaster ahead of its August launch, technical difficulties meant that many were unable to connect to matches, with servers quickly overloaded. The Gears of War: Reloaded beta was suddenly shut down on Sunday, cutting the testing period short and frustrating many in the community.

Several other popular Xbox titles are coming to PS5 this year, including Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and Age of Mythology Retold. PlayStation has also begun releasing some of its more popular titles on Xbox as well, with Final Fantasy 16 shadow dropped on Xbox Series X/S during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8.
