Limited Run Games shared good news with fans as the company confirmed that a Switch 2 compatibility update for the recently released Gex Trilogy was in review with Nintendo ahead of its June 16 launch on multiple platforms. Limited Run also confirmed that the Switch 2 compatibility update for Gex Trilogy will also be included on all physical game cards once copies are sent out in late October.
Originally released in 1995 for the 3DO console, the first Gex title was a 2D platformer developed by Crystal Dynamics, featuring the titular gecko as the main character. Gex was subsequently ported to PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and Windows months later. The Gex series then transitioned to a 3D platformer in the ensuing two games, Gex: Enter the Gecko, and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. Although the Gex series had been dormant for decades, that changed in 2024 as Limited Run and Crystal Dynamics revealed that a revival called the Gex Trilogy was in the works on all major platforms.
