SCS Software has announced that a massive new update is being developed for Euro Truck Simulator 2 called Project Coaches. This update promises to bring a “brand-new driving experience” to Euro Truck Simulator 2, almost 13 years after its initial release.
Euro Truck Simulator 2‘s initial launch came in October 2012, offering gamers the unique experience of hauling cargo across Europe. Many of the biggest cities across the continent were rendered in tons of detail, with the game being highly praised for this attention to detail. For many players, Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a game used to help them relax, with no high-pressure objectives to complete and the ability to go at their own pace. Despite its age, the game frequently surpasses 40,000 concurrent players on Steam according to SteamDB, which is an impressive feat.

In a new blog post on the SCS Software website, the developer confirmed that it has started development on a new update called Project Coaches, which will mark “the start of a brand-new driving experience within Euro Truck Simulator 2.” As the name implies, players will have “a whole new way to explore and work” by driving coaches across Europe, swapping cargo for people, offering a new way to make money in Euro Truck Simulator 2. SCS Software does reiterate that Project Coaches is still in early development, so players shouldn’t expect to it any time soon.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 Announces Project Coaches Update
The announcement also came with good news for those who are worried that this might affect SCS Software’s future plans for the game. After all, the planned Euro Truck Simulator 2 Benelux update sounds great, and it would be a shame for that to be delayed. Players don’t need to worry – Project Coaches is being worked on by a dedicated team, meaning “work on trucks, map expansions, and the core ETS2 content isn’t going anywhere.”
The high level of quality output from SCS Software over the years is immensely impressive. Not only has it continued to expand Euro Truck Simulator 2 with new content, but it has also worked on American Truck Simulator simultaneously, without sacrificing any level of ambition on either title. There’s still more to come, with an Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 release planned for Euro Truck Simulator 2 which could help breathe new life into the game’s community.
