Black Ops 7 Reveal Lends Credibility to an Exciting Leak from 2 Months Ago

Treyarch and Raven Software have officially confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and the reveal makes a previous rumor seem all the more credible. Call of Duty‘s annual release cycle means there’s always some speculation about what’s next for the series, and as with any other rumors, it can be hard to tell which leaks are trustworthy and which are just fluff. Now that fans have some official details on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, one particular leak from April sounds more believable.

A teaser at the end of this year’s Xbox Games Showcase confirmed that this year’s Call of Duty will indeed be the seventh Black Ops title. Beyond that, it revealed that Black Ops 7 will have a co-op campaign and feature the return of Black Ops 2‘s David Mason. On top of being exciting news for longtime fans, those details could give insight into what else to expect based on some news from two months ago.

Rumor: Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Pre-Orders May Start Sooner Than Expected

A new rumor suggests pre-orders for the next installment in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 7, will begin sooner than most fans expected.

As CharlieIntel pointed out on Twitter, the confirmation of a co-op campaign aligns with a major leak from April. The rumor in question came from a Reddit user claiming to be in a Black Ops 7 study group and accurately predicted the game’s setting and co-op functionality. Seeing how those details proved to be true, the rest of the leak may carry some more credibility. That could mean there are some exciting things in store for fans, including 32v32 team matches, the largest Zombies map to date, and a futuristic Japan-themed multiplayer map.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s Reveal Seems to Confirm a Big Leak from April

Other leakers have recently shared some info that supports the same claims. Noted Call of Duty insider Ghost of Hope said Black Ops 7 will bring back the TranZit Zombies map from Black Ops 2, which the April leak also suggested. Some fans believe the remastered fan-favorite map will be the massive one teased by the earlier rumors, though that remains unclear. As for 64-player matches, this wouldn’t be uncharted territory for the franchise as a whole, but it would be big news for the Black Ops games in particular, which tend to focus on smaller multiplayer modes.

If the rest of the April leak proves to be true, 2025 could be a big year for Call of Duty. Fans are already plenty excited about it, too, as Black Ops 7′s trailer views passed those of the last Call of Duty game in just 24 hours. While there’s no official release date to look forward to yet, the wait shouldn’t be too long, as 2025 is almost halfway through.
