PlayStation Comments on Bringing Its Games to Other Platforms


PlayStation executives have recently stated that the company is very “thoughtful” about bringing its popular franchises to other platforms. PlayStation features several exclusive games that players on other platforms would likely appreciate having the chance to play. While it’s true that Sony has already brought some important titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man to other platforms, many major games are still only available on PlayStation—and Sony is open to considering the possibility of making more games available elsewhere in the future.

Game exclusivity is usually a hot topic in the gaming community, as many consider this practice to be detrimental to the medium. Over the years, as console competition has heated up with the launch of the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch 2, companies have loosened their grip on exclusivity, allowing many acclaimed titles to reach other platforms. Such is the case with the immensely popular The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2, both now available on PC. That said, companies still hold on to certain titles or wait a few years before releasing them elsewhere—TLOU2 came out in 2020 and launched on PC in 2025. Now, PlayStation executives have commented on this.

Sony Gives Encouraging Update on PlayStation 6 Console

Sony Interactive Entertainment gives an encouraging update for its fans, sharing some information about the eagerly awaited PlayStation 6.

Sony Interactive Entertainment president Hideaki Nishino and Studio Business Group head Hermen Hulst recently said during a fireside chat that the company remains “thoughtful” about bringing PlayStation’s exclusive titles to other platforms, as it wants to reach a larger audience. Hulst also emphasized that the company is “taking a very measured, a very deliberate approach in doing that.”

Hulst explained that, especially for PlayStation’s single-player games, Sony wants to be certain before allowing them on other platforms, as it wants players to experience these games in the best possible way—meaning, on its hardware. Hulst is aware of how important these titles are, stating that “they’re such a point of differentiation for the PlayStation console,” considering them “real showcases of the performance.”

On top of this, Nishino went on to explain how PlayStation is constantly trying to understand players’ behavior in order to deliver good experiences for them. He also added that the company is committed to its current strategy, though it will continue to observe what players need. It’s unclear whether this means Sony will launch some of PlayStation’s exclusive hits on other platforms in the future, though it at least shows that the company continues to have an open mind regarding exclusivity—especially as a way to expand its audience.
