The Space Marine 2 Class Leaks Keep Getting Juicier

Summary

  • Datamines hint at Saber Interactive adding a Techmarine class in Space Marine 2, with leaked weapons and new models appearing online.
  • PVP in Space Marine 2 may see a revival with Chaos skins, as Saber gets more time to add new content.
  • Datamines also reveal a potential new Chaos boss, weapons, and armor pieces for Imperial Fists and Salamanders.

New content has been leaking from Space Marine 2 datamines over the past few months, essentially confirming several fan theories about a potential new class. Despite Saber claiming players can’t datamine all of Space Marine 2’s content, quite a lot has come about about the game’s next class, including names of weapons, and even new models for them. At this point, it’s a question of when, not if, Saber adds a Techmarine class,

But this isn’t the only leak to come out recently. In the same datamine, some crucial content has been revealed that could help revive Space Marine 2’s PVP. It’s unfortunately been left on the back burner lately, with Saber putting all of its attention on PVE, but with the Siege Mode coming soon, all of that could change as the developer can realign its focus.

Space Marine 2’s Techmarine Class Leaks Are Impossible to Ignore

Space Marine 2 fans have speculated about new classes for the game for a while, but it’s been heavily hinted that a Techmarine will be added for several months now. Originally, some references to a shoulder-mounted boltgun were the only proof, but recently Siege Mode for Space Marine 2’s Public Test Server has revealed extra details. Techmarine’s entire weapon roster has been leaked, with the much-requested Power Axe, as well as mentions of a Power Halberd. The Power Halberd has seemingly also been datamined, as a long, toothed polearm was found in the files. Interestingly, there’s a weapon option for a Plasma Exterminator, the same weapon wielded by Inceptors, lining up with an Inceptor Assault Bolter datamined months ago.

Much-Requested Chaos Skins Are Coming to PVP

Space Marine 2’s PVP has suffered recently as Saber puts all of its focus on the PVE content, but this could be about to change. Six skins for each PVP class were unveiled, finally giving Chaos some customization in Space Marine 2. While armor could be recolored, Chaos players have been stuck with the same armor options since launch, as Chaos is only available in one mode, it isn’t a priority for the developers. It’s understandable, but it has sucked some of the life out of PVP, so it’s a good step forward. Included in the datamine are fully colored skins for each class, rendered in incredible detail. One question some fans raise, however, is whether these will be fully customizable or act similarly to Champion skins, and many players hope the latter approach will not be the one taken.

A New PVE Boss and Weapons Were in the Datamine

Some past leaks pointed toward some new missions for the game, and the latest leak has exposed what will presumably be a new Chaos boss. The Mutalith Vortex beast, untextured but almost fully modelled, was found in the files, though its exact role isn’t known yet. With such a big boss, players will need some new weapons, and it could be that the Pyreblaster will be a new weapon in Space Marine 2, no longer just a campaign gimmick. New models have been found, and mods already exist that enable its functionality.

Curiously, there were also some new armor pieces found for the Imperial Fists and Salamanders, both chapters that have received Champion skins already. Whether these are leftovers from previously planned additions, or will be added alongside those skins, is unknown, but neither of these chapters received a chapter pack when they got their Champion skins. There has been some grumbling in the community about Saber’s approach to Champion skins in Space Marine 2, and while more armor pieces are welcome, they wouldn’t need to be in the game if the Champion skins were customizable. Regardless, these leaks are promising, as there is clearly a lot of content in the works for Space Marine 2.
