The Legend of Zelda is a franchise filled with characters that fans love and adore, and this is how they stack up.
If you can find enough Golden Feathers, and give them to the right NPC in Dragon Roost Isle, you’ll get a huge Rupee reward and a Piece of Heart – not a bad reward for a bit of bird hunting. This guide explains how to get Golden Feathers in The Wind Waker and what Golden Feathers are used for.
How To Get Golden Feathers In Zelda: The Wind Waker
To get Golden Feathers, The Wind Waker players have three options: kill Mothulas, Kargarocs, or Peahats, which all drop Golden Feathers on defeat. With all three of these enemies, you are more likely to get a Golden Feather if you use your Grappling Hook on them first.
- You will find Mothulas in the Forbidden Forest, and encounter a gigantic one as the dungeon’s boss.
- Kargarocs are the giant flying bird enemies that you can initially find on Dragon Roost Island, but these enemies can be found in several locations throughout the game, too.
- Peahats in The Wind Waker are small, squeaky, brown flying enemies with a four-leaf helicopter-like appendage on their head. You’ll find these in the Forbidden Woods and several other locations throughout the game.
Using the Grappling Hook on an enemy will reward you with an item from that enemy’s loot table, which tends to be that enemy’s specific Spoils item. Target Peahats and Kargarocs to consistently farm Golden Feathers with your Grappling Hook.
What Are Golden Feathers Used For In The Wind Waker?
In The Wind Waker, Golden Feathers can be gifted to a Riku character named Hoskit, who can be found on the upper floor of the main Dragon Roost Island cave, near the mail sorting minigame. If you give him 20x Golden Feathers, he will give you an Orange Rupee (worth 100 Rupees).
After you leave Dragon Roost Island, wait a short while, then find a postbox. You can sail to Windfall Island from Dragon Roost Island, and by the time you arrive, the mailbox should be shaking. Interact with the mailbox to see that you have received a letter from Hoskit that contains a Piece of Heart!
