Gamers who pre-ordered the Nintendo Switch 2 from Walmart have been surprised to find a couple of extra goodies in their deliveries. These extras came for free and were unannounced prior to their arrival alongside the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo fans have been eagerly diving into what the Nintendo Switch 2 has to offer, checking out both its new exclusive titles and upgraded games from the first Switch. While some fans are still struggling to score a Switch 2 with limited supply available at most retailers, those who placed pre-orders with Walmart were pleasantly surprised when they received theirs.

Posts on social media began emerging early on June 5 as Nintendo Switch 2 deliveries started rolling out to those who pre-ordered them from Walmart. Multiple buyers reported that they were surprised to open their packages and find not only the Nintendo Switch 2 console they ordered, but a couple of extras in the form of a bottle of Coca-Cola and a can of Pringles chips. The packages also included a tiny note saying “Thank a-you,” presumably emulating the way that Mario speaks, and telling gamers they could “level up” while enjoying their free snacks.

Walmart Goodies Are Appreciated In Switch 2 Roll-Out

In response to the many fans excitedly opening their packages to find these goodies, Walmart responded with a tweet of its own, stating that “We don’t play when it comes to release day.” Publication Aftermath spoke to a Walmart spokesperson who acknowledged that this was a company-wide effort, so most – if not all – gamers who had their pre-orders delivered from the store likely got these bonuses.

This is a nice touch from Walmart, and one that might lead to gamers returning to the store to pick up games and accessories in the future. Sadly, there are some fans who are likely feeling even more upset in the wake of this otherwise nice gesture from Walmart. Some fans who pre-ordered through Walmart reported that their Switch 2 pre-orders were canceled just days in advance of the console launching.

Walmart isn’t alone in having headaches connected to the Switch 2’s release, though. In addition to retailers crashing when pre-orders initially opened, those who bought a Nintendo Switch 2 at a GameStop location in New York were horrified to realize that the receipts for their orders had been stapled to the screen of the new device. While GameStop is working to rectify this, it’s likely there are fans feeling frustrated about the Switch 2’s release.
