Recluse Remembrance Quest Guide for Elden Ring Nightreign

The Recluse’s Remembrance Quest explores her motive for facing the Nightlord, her ultimate goal here at Roundtable Hold, and introduces some fascinating details to the lore of Elden Ring Nightreign. It largely follows the Recluse’s search for her “child” and explores her past and relationship with both the child and the “Witch of the Wheel.”

Players looking to learn the Recluse’s story in Elden Ring Nightreign will need to begin by acquiring her memory fragments, which are obtained by attempting expeditions while playing as the Recluse and unlock new chapters of the journal as you collect more of them. At several key points during this process, you’ll need to begin a Remembrance from the journal in order to progress further in this character story.

The Recluse’s Remembrance Quest will begin once you’ve played a few runs as her, indicated by the message “Memory Fragment Recovered” when returning from an Expedition. Check in with the Journal to see each section of her story as you recover it, and to see if a Remembrance Quest has become available. The Recluse gains access to a Remembrance Quest after unlocking chapter 2 and then chapter 4 of her journal entries. Her third and final Remembrance becomes available when you unlock chapter 6 of the Journal. After completing her third Remembrance, you can trigger a special ending after defeating the final Nightlord.

After unlocking Chapter 3 of the Recluse’s Journal, you can begin this Remembrance. You’ll want to start by heading over to the Waiting Room to speak to the Iron Menial, who will express his growing doubts about the Recluse’s commitment to defeating the Nightlord. He’ll ask her to perform a small task to prove her commitment, and you’ll now need to head into an Expedition. Your goal here is to track down a Night-Tainted Golden Hippopotamus enemy on the map and kill it. It will be marked with a red dot on the map, making it relatively easy to spot. It drops a Night Shard when defeated, which you can show to the Iron Menial when you get back to Roundtable Hold.

Once you’ve shown it to the Iron Menial, keep talking to him until he offers to help you, and then choose “I have a favor to ask” when speaking to him again. This will allow you to conclude the Remembrance, rewarding you with the Recluse’s Chalice. This chalice features one yellow slot, one green slot, and one universal slot, offering numerous new customization options for the Recluse’s relic loadout.

How to Complete the Recluse’s Second Remembrance in Elden Ring Nightreign (Chapter 4)

After unlocking Chapter 4 of the Journal, you can begin this Remembrance. Once again, you’ll need to go and speak with the Iron Menial, who is now standing near the Small Jar Bazaar. He’s found new information on the Shard of Night you recovered, and speaking to him a few times will cause him to give you the Shard of Night back. Once he does this, head over to the other side of Roundtable Hold, in the room past where the Journal is, to find a strange glowing mark on one of the beds.

Interacting with this mark will give you the item “Vestige of Night” and cause the Iron Menial to appear nearby, triggering some new dialogue where he promises to investigate the engraving on the item. This concludes the second Remembrance, unlocking the Vestige of Night as a Relic. It creates Terra Magica whenever the Recluse absorbs affinity residue, while also raising magic attack power, making it quite a useful relic for magic damage loadouts.

Reading Chapter 6 of the Recluse’s Journal, which is required to begin this Remembrance, will explain that her old friend “The Witch of the Wheel” is not as dead as she believed and is hiding somewhere in Roundtable Hold. If you head over to the training ground, you’ll find the Iron Menial sharpening a sword. This is, in fact, not the real Iron Menial, and your ability to attack while in this area will be invaluable. Attack the Iron Menial and, upon “killing” them, they’ll be revealed as the Witch of the Wheel.

After hearing her story and learning more about how she seemingly survived her death, you can then inquire about where the Iron Menial has gone. She’ll reveal that she got them out of the way for a while, hiding them in a locked room of the Roundtable Hold that you can now access. Head into the room with the Visual Codex, then down the stairs. Turn around to look behind you at the bottom of the stairs, and you’ll see the door leading to the Crypt, where the Iron Menial has been hidden.

Interact with the Iron Menial and recalibrate their Magic Root to wake them up. Explain everything that happened, and they’ll thank you, dropping a strange item as they bow. This “Bone-Like Stone” is both the key to unlocking the Recluse’s ending and a valuable Relic. When used by the Recluse, her Ultimate Art will inflict blood loss on her and increase her attack power, while also raising her maximum HP, and providing a +3 bonus to intelligence. If you can master the use of this Relic, it can enhance her damage output considerably.

How to Get the Recluse’s Ending in Elden Ring Nightreign

After completing all the Recluse Remembrance Quests mentioned above, players can trigger a new ending when playing as the Recluse. To do this, you’ll need to unlock the final Expedition, called “Night Aspect.” When you face the Nightlord at the end of this expedition and defeat them, you will be brought to a strange version of Roundtable Hold. Normally, you’d head to the chamber where the Two Fingers could be found in Elden Ring and give the Primordial Nightlord’s Rune to the corpse sitting there, but now that you’ve completed the Recluse’s Remembrance Quests, you have another option.

Instead of heading over to find the Corpse, go to where you found the Vestige of Night during the second Remembrance Quest. You will find a small entity lying on the bed, resembling a child made of darkness. Interact with it to sit and comfort it, ending the game. After the credits, you should head to that same location in Roundtable Hold one more time to have a final meeting with the Witch of the Wheel, which unlocks the Recluse’s Remembrance Outfit and concludes her story.
