THQ Nordic has let fans know about a big showcase event set to go live on the first day of August. Summer Game Fest just took place earlier this month and served as a platform for big announcements like Resident Evil Requiem, deep dives for games like The Outer Worlds 2, and even Xbox’s unveiling of its new ROG Ally handheld. It seems that THQ Nordic is planting its own showcase flag later in the summer, long after all the SGF buzz has died down.
One of the industry’s smaller AA publishers, THQ Nordic is mostly known for releasing many remakes and remasters alongside original games like the Elex series and BioMutant. 2024 was a solid year for THQ Nordic, as it released the Alone in the Dark remake, South Park: Snow Day, and a remaster of the 2010 classic Wii platformer, Disney’s Epic Mickey. While South Park: Snow Day was received quite poorly, Alone in the Dark and Epic Mickey: Rebrushed were able to find new audiences on modern platforms, especially fans of 3D platformers who never had the chance to play the original Epic Mickey.

Reanimal on Nintendo Switch 2 Could Be a Match Made in Heaven
Reanimal is the next beautifully bleak adventure from Tarsier Studios, and the Switch 2 could be the ideal console to play it on.
Now, after a very light first half of 2025, THQ Nordic has big news for the near future. The publisher released a 40-second sizzle teaser on YouTube urging fans to tune into a big showcase event on August 1. The first new game from Tarsier Studios since splitting from Little Nightmares and Bandai Namco, Reanimal, is one of the more recognizable games in the reel. Other games like The Eternal Life of Goldman and what seemed to be either Wreckfest 2 or Wreckreation popped up as well. Perhaps the most sought-after upcoming THQ Nordic games, Darksiders 4 and the Gothic remake, were present in the trailer and seem to be potentially primed for release dates.
THQ Nordic Event Going Live on August 1
Reanimal‘s presence as part of this upcoming THQ Nordic event may be the most interesting, as the game’s release could end up clashing with that of Little Nightmares 3. The release date of the third installment in Tarsier’s horror adventure series, being made this time by Supermassive Games, is likely to be known after Bandai Namco’s Little Nightmares Showcase that’s taking place tomorrow. As such a similar type of horror game, it’ll certainly be interesting to see where Reanimal ends up landing on the release calendar in relation. Seeing that THQ’s event is happening in August, there’s a chance that Reaminal gets a 2026 release date, potentially separating it from Little Nightmares 3, which at this point seems more likely to release before the end of 2025.
THQ Nordic could end up having a killer release line-up heading into 2026 with both the Gothic remake and a new Darksiders game headlining its portfolio. Fans of these franchises will need to tune into THQ’s event on August 1 to see more of these games shown off, particularly Darksiders, which has had next to nothing shown of it yet, and to potentially learn about release dates.
