June 26 is an Incredibly Busy Day for the Gaming Industry

Every day in the gaming industry is busy, but June 26 remains a stand-out. It seems various companies, developers, and publishers all marked it in their calendars to ensure there is a little something for everyone. Even so, fans are going to have to make some impossible decisions: Cyberpunk 2077 vs. Death Stranding 2, Pokemon TCG Pocket vs. Front Mission 3 Remake, a new Xbox Game Pass game versus the free Epic Games Store game, or some combination thereof. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Tons of video games are released on Tuesdays and Fridays for a variety of reasons, but June 26 is neither of these days. Still, five releases are happening that day. Given the number of games released every single day on Steam, this ballooning affecting other days of the week comes as no surprise. But not only do fans have to check out new releases, updates are happening to major games, and one showcase is bookmarked for the day. There are a lot of games demanding fan attention, but for gamers who are only juggling a few, Thursday is a feast.

It’s hard to ignore the ongoing of recent weeks as well, which have seen the likes of Elden Ring Nighreign, Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, a handful of Switch 2 versions of games, Lies of P’s Overture DLC, Dune: Awakening, The Alters, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, Date Everything, Remathc, and more hit the market.

New Video Game Release Dates: Death Stranding 2 is Leading the Pack

  • Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
  • Front Mission 3: Remake
  • Persona 5: The Phantom X
  • Ruffy and the Riverside
  • System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster

Pretty much none of these games need an introduction because many fans have been waiting with bated breath for them. The one exception perhaps, which should not be ignored, is Ruffy and the Riverside. It is a 3D platformer with a cool art style where players utilize the magic of SWAP to Copy and Paste textures. Everyone who has ever used a computer has copied and pasted something, so Ruffy uses that wisely as a mechanic to turn ice into lava, waterfalls into vines, and other imaginary ways in a “quirky open-world action game.”

Anticipation Is High for Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.3 Update

cyberpunk 2077 update 2.3 mystery bound to happen

Cyberpunk 2077‘s 2.3 update is releasing on June 26, and while it remains largely a mystery, fans have high expectations. Cyberpunk 2.2 brought with it a plethora of changes, building anticipation for this release. The positivity, developer support, and community are likely being treated to a feast. If anything, out of everything happening that day, this is the most like a Christmas gift. Players won’t know what they’re getting until they get it, if not just learning shortly beforehand, but the faith that it’s something good speaks volumes.

Xbox Game Pass Adds One of 2023’s Best Games

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to grab Against the Storm for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on June 26. It is one of the highest-rated games of 2023. It may not be for everyone, as it is a city builder focused on fantasy and roguelike features, but it is a solid game. If nothing else, it continues to prove that Xbox Game Pass is worth the admission price and serves as a continuation of the service’s hot streak over the past few months.

Epic Games Store Free Game for June 26 Coming in Hot

Epic Games Store users already know they can claim a free new game every Thursday at 8 am PT/11 am ET. Epic Games Store adds Sable, an open-world exploration game developed by Shedworks and published by Raw Fury. Players will be able to take it at their own pace, with no hand-holding, and explore a world that is new and alien to them. Of everything happening on June 26, this is perhaps the best place to come and relax.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Gets a Siege Mode

Sable may be your game to relax, but for those who want non-stop action and violence, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is always there to deliver. June 26 will see the addition of Space Marine 2‘s Siege Mode, a hold-your-ground style Imperial fortress defense set on Kadaku. This 3-player game mode forces players to face wave after wave of Tyranid and Chaos forces. Space Marine 2 also has a few other perks coming in that update, but Siege Mode has top billing for a good reason.

Although Capcom is only asking for a little of your time, it is time worth giving. On June 26 at 3 pm PT/6 pm ET, Capcom will host its Spotlight presentation focused on upcoming releases like Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata. It’ll give fans a look at Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition and hopefully some strong insight into Title Update 2 for Monster Hunter Wilds. Many Capcom fans are no doubt hoping to see Monster Hunter Wilds address its negative reviews and the reasons fans are currently upset with the game, but overall, it’s a day to see more of what lies on the horizon.
