How to Stack Storage Containers and Chests in Dune Awakening

A key part of organizing your base in Dune: Awakening is managing storage and making it look neat in the process. Simply lining the walls with Storage Containers and Chests works in the start, but as bases start expanding, making smart use of space becomes a lot more important.

Stacking Storage Containers and Chests on top of each other not only allows players to make efficient use of their Sub-Fief Console’s space but also makes storage and retrieval of items in these containers a lot more convenient. Here’s how it can be done.

How to Stack Storage Containers in Dune: Awakening

In Dune: Awakening, You can stack storage containers by using a Half Wall and a Rooftop to create a “shelf” and placing the containers above and below the partition. It’s very important to note, however, that the Choam Shelter Rooftop tile (default) does not work for this method; there is a downward protrusion on the Choam Shelter Rooftop that prevents the placement of Storage Containers below it. You need to use either the Choam Facility Rooftop Tile or the Caladan Palace Rooftop tile for this method to work. Here is the process.

  1. Equip your Construction tool.
  2. Place a Half Wall on a floor or foundation.
  3. Place a Choam Facility Rooftop or Caladan Palace Rooftop tile on its rim.
  4. Now, you will be able to stack storage containers by placing them below and above the Rooftop tile.

Make sure to build the Half Wall + Rooftop combo before placing the Storage Containers; the game won’t allow you to build a Rooftop after the Storage Containers have been placed. To switch tile types, equip the Construction Tool, select Change Set, and choose the tileset you want. The tile set selector is at the very top.

The Observer, Harkonnen, and Atreides Building Sets may also work with the Half Wall method, but they haven’t been tested.

Medium Storage Containers cannot be stacked as they’re too large.

How to Unlock the Choam Facility Set

The Choam Facility Building Set can be acquired by researching the “Advanced Construction Kit” in the Construction tab under Iron Products. For players who chose the “Locked Research” option at the starting phase, this option will only become available after completing the story mission “Moving On,” where you have to abandon your base in Hagga Basin South.

How to Unlock the Caladan Palace Set

The Caladan Palace Building Set is exclusively available to players who purchased the Dune: Awakening – Ultimate Edition. It is not unlockable via in-game events or research.

How to Stack Chests in Dune: Awakening

Chests can be stacked more easily than Storage Containers as they’re smaller in size and width. The process is the same: build a Half Wall and create a Rooftop tile to create a partition. However, you can stack Chests with the Choam Shelter Rooftop tile, as the low clearance doesn’t pose a problem here.

Additionally, Chests can be arranged lengthwise to take more advantage of the space. When placing them, tilt the Chests so that their sides are facing you instead of their front, which would allow you to place four Chests per Rooftop instead of two. Make sure to place them as close to the edge as possible to make storing items in the Chests easy.
