New Elden Ring Nightreign Content Causes Major Player Count Spike

Elden Ring Nightreign has experienced a major player count spike on Steam, thanks to some newly introduced content in the form of Everdark Sovereign boss encounters. The new content is available to Elden Ring Nightreign players who’ve defeated at least one Nightlord, and the first Everdark Sovereign boss is only available for a limited time.

Elden Ring Nightreign drops players to the shifting lands of Limveld to fight the Nightlord with an updated combat system from Elden Ring. Up to three players can team up to fight new and familiar bosses during a single night, and those who claim victory by defeating the Nightlord can level up and grow stronger for the next night. Elden Ring Nightreign proved to be a very successful game at launch, but it’s not been perfect so far, due to criticism from players regarding a lack of social features and the game’s brutal difficulty. However, FromSoftware is committed to post-launch support with free updates and DLC, which could improve the game greatly over time. One of the first new content additions to Elden Ring Nightreign are Everdark Sovereign bosses, and it appears that many players are engaging with the new content.

Gaping Jaw will be available as the latest Everdark Sovereign boss in Elden Ring: Nightreign until June 25 at 5:59 p.m. ET, and the boss is quite formidable thanks to its new moves and increased power. Players who’ve already defeated the original version of Gaping Jaw can fight its Everdark Sovereign form, and once the deadline arrives, the Everdark Sovereign boss will disappear from the available Expeditions. It’s worth noting that players must connect to the online servers to access the Everdark Sovereign boss, and solo play is available for Elden Ring Nightreign players, but it’s recommended to play with a full group when attempting to tackle these difficult bosses.

Although Elden Ring Nightreign received an influx of negative reviews on Steam shortly after its launch, the steady flow of free updates and the recent release of the first Everdark Sovereign have pushed the game’s Steam review rating up to “Very Positive.” One of the most notable updates in recent weeks happened on June 6 to fix some of the matchmaking issues that players were experiencing.
