CD Projekt Red Reveals Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3

Summary

  • CD Projekt Red announces Patch 2.3 for Cyberpunk 2077.
  • The update will be released on June 26, with more details arriving later this month.
  • Previous rumors and theories suggest Virtuos has once again assisted in the development of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 update.

CD Projekt Red has announced yet another update for Cyberpunk 2077. The announcement came during a recent livestream for the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2, where CD Projekt Red ended the stream by confirming that patch 2.3 will be released on June 26 with more details set to be revealed shortly before the update’s official release.

With multiple projects now in development, including The Witcher 4 and a highly anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, many fans believed further content for the 2020 RPG was out of the question. This is not only because the studio is incredibly busy with other titles, but also because CD Projekt Red itself has now said on multiple occasions that there will be no more updates. Despite these claims, the smash hit RPG continues to receive new content. Although there have been more minor fixes released this year, the last major update was patch 2.2, which came in December 2024. The unexpected update added new car customization options, a special Balatro quest, and much more.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 Arriving This Month

Earlier this week, fans seemingly found evidence to suggest that another Cyberpunk 2077 update was in the works. Now, during a recent livestream from CD Projekt Red, those rumors have proven to be true. At precisely one hour into today’s livestream, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the next Cyberpunk 2077 update will be released on June 26. “The last one wasn’t the last one,” Alicja Kozera, CD Projekt Red’s senior community manager, joked. Kozera then stated that another livestream would take place at the end of the month with more details on what fans can expect from patch 2.3.

It’s currently unclear, but it’s possible that the upcoming update had a helping hand from Virtuos. The studio previously collaborated with CD Projekt Red for the RPG’s last major update in December, working on UI improvements for the patch. Fans also recently discovered evidence that suggested Virtuos was assisting in the development of a second Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. While the upcoming patch won’t be on the same scale as Cyberpunk 2077‘s critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty DLC, it’s possible that the studio has been working on some additional quests for the update. For now, however, fans will have to wait a few more weeks to find out what CD Projekt Red has been cooking for the surprise patch.

While the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has only just entered its pre-production phase, a recent tech demo for The Witcher 4 shows that development on the title is much further along. The highly anticipated sequel is likely still a good few years away, but the tech demo did give fans a great idea of what to expect. The stunning footage showcased the new mountainous region of Kovir, new wearable cloaks, an immersive world that reacts to the player, and much more.
