How to Start the Forest Conqueror Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
Since Event Quests first started being added in Monster Hunter Wilds, there are now two ways to check and queue for ones that are presently available.
First, you can check in with your companion Alma at any base camp location or the Grand Hub. She’s your primary source for all manner of quest types, whether it’s ones related to the main story, Field Surveys and Investigations you’ve picked up, or Event Quests that drop during the game’s routine updates.
The Grand Hub is your other option for queuing Event Quests, as you can speak to Lotta at the Quest Counter, left of Ricardo who handles Arena Quests.
Whichever method you choose, go to the ‘Event Quests’ tab, where you should see the ‘Kut-Ku the Forest Conqueror’ quest listed (as seen above). This quest tasks you with defeating a Tempered Yian Kut-Ku in the Forest biome at night, and requires a minimum of HR 21 in terms of your rank.
Rewards for completing this Event Quest include a wide variety of options, including a special item that can be used to craft a couple of charming new gear sets (layered armor included) for your Palico.
How to Beat Tempered Yian Kut-Ku
While other Tempered monsters in the game present exceptional challenges, handling a Tempered Yian Kut-Ku is honestly not too different from handling a normal one. As a Tempered monster, it will pack more of a punch than its regular variant, in terms of its damage stats. Its attacks will also be notably more aggressive, with little pause or chance of it becoming exhausted.
What you want to be most careful around are Yian Kut-Ku’s relentless fireball attacks. It’ll either run around the immediate area, spewing countless fireballs in its wake, or it’ll launch them from a set position like a catapult, ending with a massive fireball that can easily knock off nearly half your health if not dodged.
Like other Tempered monsters, make sure to focus your hits on the tempered wounds on its body. Popping these will net you more monster parts upon defeating it.
How to Craft Wudwud Palico Gear in Monster Hunter Wilds
A particularly important reward that you can get from this Event Quest is the Wudwud Treasure. This special item is used toward crafting not one but two gear sets for your Palico – the Wudwud Guise and the Wacky Wudwud.
The Wudwud Guise literally turns your Palico into a Wudwud dressed in their traditional jungle-inspired garb. It also includes a weapon, which you may want for when the layered weapon feature is finally brought into the game. Meanwhile, the Wacky Wudwud is purely an armor set that dresses up your Palico as a Wudwud without the jungle garb or weapon.
Whether you want just one of these looks or both, you’ll need a handful of the Wudwud Treasure items to craft them.

Due to the style of the armor itself, you don’t need to craft individual pieces of these sets. You’ll automatically receive the set in its entirety in exchange for the crafting materials and zenny prices listed above. Even better, you’ll automatically get a “layered” version of the sets as well to customize your Palico with. The stats of the gear aren’t anything memorable, so these sets are meant to be used as layered armor more than anything.
If you’ve ever wanted your felyne companion to resemble one of these eccentric creatures, there’s frankly no better opportunity than this Event Quest. It will only be available for a limited time until July 1, 2025, so make sure not to miss out.
