Grand Theft Auto Online has dropped its PS Plus requirement on PlayStation consoles, allowing PS4 and PS5 owners to play it without an active subscription. The newly launched GTA Online promotion will run until the end of June 2025.
In recent years, Rockstar has periodically waived GTA Online‘s PS Plus requirement, typically to promote the game’s latest content updates. Its most recent such completed promotion ran over a two-week period that ended in late December 2024.

Is It Worth Getting Back Into GTA Online For the New ‘Money Fronts’ Update?
Grand Theft Auto Online just got a fresh update with Money Fronts, and fans looking to expand their business empire may be interested.
Rockstar is now following up on that move with yet another period of PS Plus-free GTA Online access, which started on June 17. As per usual, the recently launched promotion will run for two weeks straight, ending on July 1. Rockstar doesn’t appear to be doing much to advertise this limited-time opportunity, which some fans have only discovered by accident. The deal itself is meant to promote GTA Online‘s newly launched Money Fronts update.
Money Fronts Introduces a Variety of New GTA Online Features
Since 2019, GTA Online has been on a biannual update schedule, receiving two major content drops per year. Money Fronts is its first such update for 2025, introducing a variety of new playable content and vehicles, among other novelties. Among the highlights of this release is the Hands On Car Wash, which can be purchased in Strawberry for $1 million. As the name of the update suggests, the new GTA Online car wash can be used for laundering operations—converting illicit earnings into legitimate income. It also offers added gameplay benefits, such as a 35% increase in the value of Counterfeit Cash Factory products sold during Biker Sell Missions, as well as free access to a car wash.
The Money Fronts update is also expanding the GTA Online vehicle roster with 19 new additions. Seven of these have been available since launch, including the Karin Everon RS pickup truck and Karin Woodlander SUV. The recent rollout also includes two new sedans—the Annis Hardy and Übermacht Sentinel GTS—alongside the Dewbauchee Rapid GT X sports car, Western Police Bike, and a new helicopter: the Buckingham Higgins Helitours Maverick. The remaining 12 vehicles are scheduled for release during upcoming Event Weeks.
Based on Rockstar’s recent release cadence, Money Fronts is likely the second-to-last GTA Online update before Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on May 26. The company has yet to reveal any details about the online component of GTA 6, which has not even been officially confirmed to exist yet. However, given that GTA Online has generated billions of dollars in microtransaction revenue since its 2013 release, a successor seems all but certain. The main uncertainty is how long Rockstar intends to continue supporting GTA Online once its sequel arrives.
