During the 87th Letter From the Producer LIVE broadcast, Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida announced that some changes and new features in Patch 7.3 will be made after rounds of player feedback. Along with changes to the Occult Crescent and Cosmic Exploration instances, the next Final Fantasy 14 patch will add more hat options for Viera and Hrothgar characters and the long-awaited Chat Bubbles feature.
Yoshida and global community producer Toshio Murouchi started the Live Letter by apologizing to Final Fantasy 14 players for the added periods of server maintenance since the launch of Patch 7.25 in late May. Yoshida stated that he felt that the game’s quality of service had been diminished due to frequent hotfixes, and noted that the development team would redouble its efforts to satisfy players. On June 16, Final Fantasy 14 went through 14 hours of server maintenance to implement some infrastructure changes to the Japanese Data Center, along with hotfixes to the Occult Crescent.

Final Fantasy 14 Mobile Takes Huge Step Forward
Following a closed beta period in China, Lightspeed Studios moves the ongoing development of Final Fantasy 14 Mobile to the next level.
As translated by Nova Crystallis on social media, Final Fantasy 14‘s 7.3 update will add the option for premade alliances of up to 48 players to queue into the same instance of the Occult Crescent to enter the Forked Tower: Blood raid. The change was in response to player feedback. Adjustments to the Auroral Mirages weather effect, which is needed to enter the Forked Tower, will also be implemented. Although the Forked Tower: Blood raid was designed to be a challenging encounter with rewards like the Demon Haul mount, the upcoming Forked Tower: Magic raid in the Patch 7.5 series will have Normal and Savage versions for players of all skill levels. Cosmic Exploration will also include a retainer bell, the ability for players to use their mounts on current and future planets, and will change certain NPC placements.
Final Fantasy 14 Is Changing Things Due to Player Feedback
- Final Fantasy 14 will add the option to queue for Occult Crescent as a 48-player alliance.
- The next Forked Tower raid will include Normal and Savage difficulties per player feedback.
- Cosmic Exploration will add a retainer bell and access to mounts moving forward.
- Viera and Hrothgar headgear and Chat Bubbles are planned for Patch 7.3.
Patch 7.3 will also see the addition of various headgear being displayed on Viera and Hrothgar characters, after the Occult Crescent included hats that didn’t show on those character models. Additional hats and helms for Viera and Hrothgar characters will arrive in later patches. Additionally, the Viera will have a new option to hide their ears with specific headpieces.
Yoshida revealed that the highly anticipated Chat Bubbles feature was also confirmed to be in active development, which can be used in Final Fantasy 14 for roleplay and other purposes. Other features, including the next Ultimate raid and the White Board for endgame raiders, will be implemented in future patches.
