Dune: Awakening – A Sign From Above Quest Guide

A Sign From Above takes players to a story-based instance of a wrecked ship called the Hephaestus in hopes of finding an Ixian Decoder for Ari. However, things take a unexpected turn, as a mysterious nobleman urges players to help them find a person on the ship.

This quest comes a bit after the entire Trials of Aql questline, and it picks up directly from the events of the final trial with Ari. It’s a bit more confusing than the other story quests so far, especially once players get to the Wreck of the Hephaestus itself. This guide covers everything you need to do to finish this quest.

Dune: Awakening Wreck of the Hephaestus Location

Before heading out, consider crafting a Personal Light to help navigate the Hephaestus’ dark halls.

After you complete the assassination jobs fron Fenring’s contact in Harko, you’ll get a call from Ari saying that she found an Ixian Decoder aboard the Hephaestus, a ship that crashed somewhere southeast of Hagga Basin. Before you get to it, you’ll first need to make your own Ornithopter.

Board your Ornithopter and head into any border of Hagga Basin to reach the World Map. From there, press the Map button (M by default on mouse/keyboard), then select Wreck of the Hephaestus from the list on the left. Track the wreck, then an arrow will appear on your Ornithopter showing you the way. Follow the arrow southeast, then land in the wreck.

The Cargo Bay

Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by the Dashing Noble, a man who’s looking for an errant princess somewhere in the Hephaestus. Agree to help him, then move on. There’s a blast door at the end of the starting area, near a flare next to a set of stairs. Open it up with your Cutteray, then proceed to the next area.

In the next room, you’ll be attacked by hostile Suboids. Deal with them, then go to the pentashield. To unlock it, you need to find an eyeball for the retina scanner. Look for the container next to the entrance to the area, then cut it open with your Cutteray to reveal an NPC inside. Either convince him to open the door for you, or find an eyeball on a corpse near the pentashield if he refuses to come out.

After passing through the shield, continue following the path until you reach the Cargo Bay. You’ll be attacked by numerous Suboids here as you wait for the Dashing Noble to restore power to the sector. Once the power comes back online, look for the suspensor crane controls on a catwalk to reveal the way forward.

Go through the newly-opened door and follow the path. You’ll soon enter an area filled with harmful radiation — run through the irradiated area until you reach the main cargo hold. You’ll know you’re there once the objective tracker tells you to find a container.

Open the container that’s next to a red flare, then interact with the following objects inside:

  • The Bene Gesserit Sister Suit
  • The Catholic bible
  • The Comunninet device

The Bridge

After investigating all three items, head through the entryway behind the Sister suit, then turn left. Cut your way through the blast door, then head outside the Hephaestus. Follow the path until you reach the bridge section — at this point, you’ll need to restore power by cutting open some breaker boxes and interacting with the panels inside.

The boxes you need to cut open will be clearly marked on your compass.

Restore power to the ship while fending off the Suboids, then enter the main bridge area. After the cutscene, grab the Ixian Decoder off the table with the planet hologram.

Once you pick up the Decoder, the bridge will self-destruct. Head back to where you came from to escape the Hephaestus, and once you exit back to the World Map, go back to Hagga Basin. Ari should contact you again once you return to your base.
