Black Ops 7 Won’t Have Wall-Running, Despite Previous Leaks

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 publisher Activision has confirmed that the next entry in the series will not have wall-running or jetpacks, despite previous leaks and rumors claiming otherwise. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was revealed to the world earlier this month during the Xbox Games Showcase, and while the cinematic trailer didn’t give fans any information on the shooter’s Multiplayer, Activision has now revealed some interesting new pieces of information surrounding the game’s upgraded movement system.

With the next Call of Duty game set to launch later this year, marketing for Black Ops 7 has officially begun. The shooter received its very first cinematic trailer on June 8, revealing the return of David Mason and Raul Menendez, while also confirming previous leaks that Black Ops 7 would be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2 set in the year 2035. The release date for the next Call of Duty game is currently unknown, but given the series’ usual release schedule, fans can likely expect Black Ops 7 to launch in either late October or early November.

Activision Confirms No Jetpacks or Wall-Running in Black Ops 7

Earlier this year, a huge leak saw Call of Duty: Warzone players using an unreleased wall-running mechanic. The feature was accessed using Call of Duty HQ’s very own in-game files, which led many to believe that the divisive movement system would be added to Black Ops 7. However, it looks like that’s not the case. In a new episode of COD Pod, Activision’s Senior Director of Communications, Stephanie Snowden, discussed the game’s ties to Black Ops 2, while also noting that Black Ops 7 is set 30 years before Black Ops 3, which featured both wall-running and jetpacks. Snowden then says, “I can confirm, no wall-running, no jetpacks.”

This might be disappointing news for fans hoping to return to the glory days of Black Ops 3, but Snowden did follow up the shocking announcement by revealing that there will be an “evolution” of Black Ops 6‘s omnimovement system in Black Ops 7. While this is where any official news on the game’s movement system ends, reliable insider and leaker TheGhostOfHope did chime in by stating that Black Ops 7 will actually feature “wall-jumping” and not “wall-running.” If the leak proves to be true, it looks like the next Call of Duty game will allow players to jump off of walls, but not run on them like they could in Black Ops 3.

Black Ops 7‘s lack of wall-running and supposed wall-jumping actually gives credibility to a previous Call of Duty leak from October 2024. According to a leaked image from a Call of Duty focus group, Black Ops 7 will feature an “evolution” of omnimovement (which has now been confirmed), a new wall-jumping mechanic, body shield updates, the return of fan favorite mode, Uplink, and more. While many were skeptical of the leak at the time, Activision has confirmed one element to be true, which means there likely will be a wall-jumping feature in the next Black Ops game.
