New Hades 2 Feature Gives You More Reason to Pick Up Selene’s Boons

The Hades 2 universe has expanded further with the recent release of the Unseen Update. This update adds many new gameplay features and abilities to Hades 2, which make Melinoe’s adventure more exciting and are sure to prove useful as she works to defeat Chronos’s forces and save her family in the Underworld.

One standout addition in Hades 2‘s The Unseen Update is Godsent Hexes, which are, essentially, Selene’s Gifts of the Moon hexes infused with Olympian power. Godsent Hexes are, in essence, Duo Boons that can be obtained through Selene’s Path of Stars upgrades. This new feature definitely adds more firepower to Melinoe’s arsenal, and Godsent Hexes have the potential to change the way Hades 2 fans navigate their runs.

Selene’s Boons Get an Upgrade in Hades 2’s The Unseen Update

As the Moon Incarnate, Selene offers Melinoe a selection of powerful hexes to choose from, and those hexes can be upgraded through the Path of Stars every time Selene is encountered on the field. Following the release of the Unseen Update, Melinoe’s chosen hex from Selene has a chance to become “Godsent,” which infuses the hex with the ability of a specific god and creates something akin to a Duo Boon. Every Olympian is capable of creating a Godsent Hex, and their effects are as follows:

  • Hand of Hephaestus: Causes a blast that deals 800 damage after using Wolf Howl.
  • Temper of Zeus: Makes Twilight Curse shot strike foes with lightning bolts repeatedly to deal 120 damage.
  • Shine of Apollo: Fire a bigger solar-infused Lunar Ray with +500 Power.
  • Nurture of Hera: Makes your Night Bloom servant faster and stronger.
  • Prize of Poseidon: Makes Moon Water spawn several restorative items.
  • Squall of Demeter: All foes take damage during Phase Shift.
  • Allure of Aphrodite: Keep spawning Heartthrobs during Dark Side.
  • Hearth of Hestia: Rapidly inflicts Scorch on all foes during Total Eclipse.
  • Lance of Ares: Inflicts Wounds whenever Sky Fall hits.

Athena also has a new Boon called Task Force, which allows Melinoe to use Hexes more times per enemy encounter.

Godsent Hexes are developer Supergiant Games’ way to further strengthen Selene’s Boons in Hades 2, especially those that are used to deal damage to enemies. Prior to the Unseen Update, some hexes could feel useless if they were not complimented by the right Nocturnal Arms and Olympian Boons, but Godsent Hexes make Selene’s combat-focused Boons more viable overall. This improvement to Selene’s Boons is especially important now, since the recent update also introduces powerful new mini-bosses and gives players access to powered-up versions of the game’s Guardians.

Hades 2’s The Unseen Update is More Than Godsent Hexes

Changes to Selene’s hexes and new threats are not all that can be found in Hades 2‘s The Unseen Update, though, as the patch also introduces new hidden aspects of the Nocturnal Arms. The special abilities attached to those hidden aspects encourage fans to adapt their play styles, and there are sure to be some awesome combos that can be created by pairing them with certain Godsent Hexes. Additionally, the hidden aspects will undoubtedly have some powerful synergies with many of the Olympian Boons that can be picked up during a run.

As Hades 2 nears its full release, Supergiant Games is pulling out all the stops to give players a well-rounded experience as Melinoe. The new additions not only make it easier to fight powerful boss enemies, like Chronos and Prometheus, the Unseen Update also increases the variety of viable builds and enhances the overall gameplay as players progress through the story.
