According to early datamining for Version 5.8, the upcoming Genshin Impact update is introducing both the Mare Jivari and a permanent Summer Event area to Natlan. Though Genshin Impact is boldly paving the way for Nod-Krai and Snezhnaya, the Traveler and Paimon are set to make one last stop in the Nation of Pyro. Mare Jivari has been teased since the game’s launch in September 2020, and players are finally about to set foot on its windless shores in Version 5.8.
It was unclear if Genshin Impact was going to feature a Summer Event in Version 5.8, as its unorthodox release schedule still had one zone missing even after Version 5.7 entered beta. As a result, many leakers assumed that Version 5.8 would thus skip the annual Summer Event in Genshin Impact, introducing a permanent zone in Mare Jivari instead. However, it would seem that HoYoverse has plans for something special in the upcoming patch.

Prominent Genshin Impact voice actors confirm they will soon reprise their roles in the game, exciting fans of the English-dubbed version.
Thanks to Firefly and Uncle Teyvat, players have been given an in-game map of the upcoming zone in Version 5.8, as well as clarification on what Genshin Impact is planning for its Summer Event in 2025. The shared displays two lone islands situated to the northwest of Ochkanatlan, with the larger landmass resembling the depiction of Mare Jivari from Version 5.2. Uncle Teyvat claims that the overworld will host the Summer Event in Version 5.8, while Mare Jivari in Genshin Impact will instead be accessed via a portal underneath the island.
Genshin Impact Leak Suggests New Summer Event Zone Will Be Permanent
Curiously, a few settlements seem to dot the two islands, implying that Mare Jivari isn’t as desolate as previously assumed. Mare Jivari was the backdrop of a major battle against the Abyss during the fall of Khaenri’ah, the aftermath of which turned it into a wasteland. It’s important to remember that Enjou seems to be looking for the Mare Jivari, and as such, there is a decent chance that the Traveler and Paimon will run into their favorite Abyss Lector in Version 5.8. The Summer Event also implies that Bennett and Yelan in Genshin Impact will find themselves on the island as well.
Unlike previous Summer Events that featured temporary zones, Mare Jivari will persist after Version 5.8, and will thus allow players to explore it even after the release of Nod-Krai. While the event itself will likely be time-limited, this solution elegantly introduces Natlan’s final map expansion while maintaining a popular Genshin Impact tradition. Version 5.8 is also expected to debut a new 5-Star Electro Support in Genshin Impact, with the patch itself set to launch on July 30, 2025.
