With the surge of VR games in the gaming industry in recent years, only a handful of titles have been able to leave a lasting impression in this space. Batman: Arkham Shadow, the Meta Quest 3 exclusive that alarmed Batman: Arkham franchise fans at first, turned out to be surprisingly high quality. Now, it seems that the next VR game showing potential is Marvel’s Deadpool VR, which was announced only recently at Summer Game Fest 2025.
Batman: Arkham Shadow makes a strong case for more Batman VR games, and rightfully so. The first-person action title was able to win over more hearts than what many had hoped for, offering fluid gameplay and a captivating storyline akin to the former Batman: Arkham masterclass. As such, it’s important to go over Arkham: Shadow‘s reception before casting a lens on the upcoming Marvel’s Deadpool VR, because VR today is not what it used to be a year ago.

Marvel’s Deadpool VR Has Come Out of the Gate Swinging Following Arkham: Shadow’s Great Reception
Batman: Arkham Shadow enjoyed rave reviews on launch, effectively becoming one of the most capable superhero VR games in the business at the moment. Outside of its Meta Quest 3 exclusivity and certain bugs, the action-adventure title scores high numbers in the gameplay and visuals department, which comes as a surprise for fans of the franchise. The reveal trailer of Arkham Shadow spawned myriad concerns regarding its quality, but Camouflaj, the developer, was quick to prove the naysayers wrong following the title’s launch.
Hot off the heels of Arkham: Shadow‘s success, Marvel’s Deadpool VR paints an interesting picture for the future of VR gaming. While the title isn’t out yet, one can judge from the quality of the reveal trailer that gamers might be in for a delight. Batman in VR may not have seemed like a fantastic idea at first, either, but a certain high standard for VR superhero games has been set in its wake, and Marvel’s Deadpool VR seems to be only the beginning.
Neil Patrick Harris, the famed television host and actor, will be voicing Deadpool in Marvel’s Deadpool VR.
Deadpool VR could be big on creativity. As opposed to the fairly restricted shooting-and-going gameplay model that is observed elsewhere in many VR shooters, the initial trailer for the title sees the protagonist jumping, climbing, wallrunning, bullet deflecting, and pulling all kinds of stunts you’d expect from a full-blown Deadpool game, save for the exclusivity to virtual reality. While the 2015-released Deadpool can feel like a documentary, the VR iteration feels more like a breath of fresh air.
What to Expect From Marvel’s Deadpool VR
Everything from the visuals and gameplay down to the humor and wit of the title appears to have been shown off in typical Deadpool fashion, so fans are expecting a blast going forward. In addition, the surprise inclusion of Mephisto in Marvel’s Deadpool VR has taken players aback as well, setting up an interesting premise for the title and leaving a ton of room for speculation up until its release. After all, Mephisto is one of the most prominent antagonists in the Marvel Comics universe, so the news of his presence in the game is saying a lot already.
It’s worth mentioning that the Merc With a Mouth has made a comeback to the gaming scene after a decade in isolation, with the last titular Deadpool game coming out all the way back in November 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There are others who are of the opinion that, after all this time, Deadpool deserved more than a VR-exclusive title, but it’s too early to make an accurate assessment of the upcoming game’s quality at the moment. The majority of the fans, however, are looking forward to what Camouflaj is cooking up behind the curtains.
