Right now, there’s no way to know who will step into the shoes of Alex, but these three actresses may be safe bets, considering the tone of the movie. Kristen Wiig has continued to prove just how hilarious she is. Whether it’s Bridesmaids or her many great SNL characters, Wiig is one of the top comedic actresses in the industry. Amy Adams has built her reputation on more serious roles like Arrival and Nocturnal Animals, but thanks to her range, she has some great lighthearted roles under her belt, too. Enchanted, The Muppets, and Drop Dead Gorgeous have all demonstrated her strong comedic side, but she would be an unexpected choice for Alex. However, the unexpected may be exactly what A Minecraft Movie needs to keep viewers on their toes.

Kate McKinnon may ultimately be the eventual choice for Alex, and there’s a logical reason as to why. Alex’s face may never be shown at the end of A Minecraft Movie, but her voice is definitely heard, and it’s McKinnon. Of course, lending her voice to the character isn’t a confirmation of any casting, but it would only make sense.

If this is the case, McKinnon would still be a strong choice for Alex. It’s hard to picture A Mincecraft Movie without Jack Black, and whoever gets the role of Alex needs to match his energy. Indeed, McKinnon could definitely pull that off.
