With Fortnite coming to the Switch 2 on day one, Epic Games is giving away a freebie to those who log into the game on the console during its first few months. Nintendo fans have been waiting for June 5 ever since the release date of the Switch 2 was announced. Mario Kart World is the center of the show for many players, but there are plenty of other exciting features and games coming to the console on its first day. A wide selection of games will be available for the Switch 2 as soon as it’s out, and Fortnite is one of them.
The original Switch wasn’t as powerful compared to other consoles, as it was a handheld device as well as a home console. Therefore, Fortnite wasn’t able to run as smoothly as it did on Xbox and PlayStation. However, the Switch 2 version of Fortnite brings great changes, such as higher resolution, more FPS, better visuals and effects, and overall performance improvements.

To celebrate the release of the latest Nintendo console, Epic Games is giving away a free emote to gamers who play Fortnite on the Switch 2 during the first few months after launch. Players who log into Fortnite on a Nintendo Switch 2 by March 31, 2026, will receive the Wishing Star emote for free. In the blog post announcing the freebie, Epic Games even referenced Kirby by saying, “Grab a shooting star, make a wish, and throw it back! You can’t go on an air ride with it, but it’s the next best thing.” This is a not-so-subtle nod to the upcoming Kirby Air Riders game for the Switch 2.
Fortnite Releases Free Emote on the Switch 2
June 5 is bound to be an exciting day for many Nintendo fans, especially those who enjoy Fortnite. Even though gamers were let down when they found out that Save the World won’t be coming to the Switch 2, they can still try out Fortnite‘s multitude of game modes on a brand-new console and claim a free item while they’re at it. Players who are skipping the Switch 2 for now can get the Wishing Star emote once it hits the Item Shop after this promotional offer.
Except for Save the World, Switch 2 players will get access to all other game modes, and Replay Mode will also make a debut on a Nintendo system.
