Dune: Awakening May Have Already Broken 1 Million Sales—Or Is About To
According to an average of estimates from VG Insights, Gamalytic, and PlayTracker, Dune: Awakening‘s PC sales are in the ballpark of 788,000 as of June 15. However, the actual figure may be even higher; a recent GameDiscoverCo study found that heavily pre-ordered Steam games typically have a peak concurrent user-to-sales ratio between 8 and 12. Based on that metric, the MMO may have already sold around 1.4 million copies. Even if it has not yet reached that figure, the game appears to be on track to at the very least surpass 1 million sales during its launch month.
According to the current list of Steam Top Sellers—a chart that reflects recent revenue leaders on the platform—Dune: Awakening is ranked third, behind Counter-Strike 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds. It has even outperformed Stellar Blade, PlayStation’s biggest-ever PC launch, which is currently ranked fourth on the same list.
Since live service games live and die by the size of their active communities, the fact that Funcom’s MMO has already attracted a large player base bodes well for its long-term prospects, assuming it can maintain at least a fraction of this momentum. While the Norwegian developer is currently focused on issuing critical bug fixes and balancing tweaks based on player feedback, it’s also continuing to work on bringing the game to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. According to the latest official update, Dune: Awakening is targeting a 2026 console release.
