WARNING: The following article contains minor potential SPOILERS for Deltarune Chapter 4.Deltarune creator Toby Fox hid a clever reference to another hit indie title, Innersloth’s Among Us, in the recently released Chapters 3 and 4 update across all platforms. After finding this special Easter egg in Deltarune, the Among Us social media team sent an excited reply to Toby Fox, who responded with a joke of his own.
Billed as a parallel story to Undertale, Deltarune has seen periodic updates since its initial launch in 2018. Using a chapter-based format to tell its overarching story, Deltarune recently doubled its available chapters from two to four following the launch of Nintendo’s new Switch 2 console. The Switch 2 version of Deltarune features functions that utilize the mouse mode capabilities of the Joy-Con 2 controllers. However, this Joy-Con feature can only be used in a specific room that players must find. Game creator Toby Fox also stated that the newly released Chapter 4 is not the end of Deltarune, as the game’s fifth chapter is planned to arrive sometime in 2026.

8 Things Deltarune Does Better Than Undertale
Deltarune, the spiritual successor to the beloved Undertale, improves on the first game in a number of surprising ways.
Although Deltarune has cameos from popular Undertale characters like Sans and Toriel, another hit indie game is referenced as an Easter egg. As reported by IGN, Deltarune creator Toby Fox included a callout to Among Us within Deltarune‘s latest update. After finding out that their game was mentioned as a referential Easter egg in Deltarune, the Among Us social media team had an excited response to the news, as they “crashed out” in their post. This prompted another joke from Toby Fox, who posted a picture of “Deltrarune hotfix patch notes” that “removed Among Us” from the game. While the patch notes were an obvious joke, Among Us developer Innersloth replied with the word “RESPECT” and thanked Toby Fox for the special mention.
Deltarune’s New Chapters Include an Among Us Easter Egg
Players can discover this Among Us Easter egg in Deltarune Chapter 4, which is a complete tonal shift from the previous third chapter. As Kris, Susie, and Noelle explore Noelle’s home, they come across some empty boxes hidden in a closet. This prompts Susie to call the room they are in “kinda sus… especially that vent” in the ensuing dialogue, which prompts Noelle to break the fourth wall by calling out the Among Us references. However, Noelle’s joke was lost on Susie.
Between the launch of two new chapters and the arrival of the Switch 2, Deltarune‘s resurgence came at a good time for fans old and new. Only time will tell what other references players will find in Deltarune‘s next updates.
