When it comes to team-based Marvel games, there are a handful of characters that fans now expect to see on the roster. Spider-Man has always been at the very top of that list, being the most popular superhero in the world for decades. But the rest of that list is often dependent on who was the most popular at the time of the game’s development. That’s why, for the past decade or so, many of the Avengers have taken those top spots, more specifically, Iron Man and Captain America. That’s the case once again with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
The mascots of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iron Man and Captain America make up a quarter of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls‘ currently confirmed roster. But Marvel Tokon isn’t the only big game these characters are in right now. Marvel Rivals featured both Iron Man and Captain America on day one, and the latter of the two boasts very unique designs in both games.

Comparing Marvel Tokon and Marvel Rivals’ Captain America Designs
Captain America’s Visual Design in Marvel Tokon and Marvel Rivals
In Marvel Rivals, Captain America features a visual design that’s quite different from most of his comic book counterparts. This version of Cap was trapped in the ice for much longer than the 616 version, reemerging in the 2080s. As such, Marvel Rivals‘ Captain America is equipped with a more futuristic, high-tech costume. Bulkier armor, hologram technology, and large Iron Man-like gauntlets adorn this version of Captain America.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls‘ version of Captain America, on the other hand, is much more in line with the usual comic iterations, though it still has plenty of unique qualities. From the waist down, Cap’s costume is about what fans would expect, being a pair of cargo pants with a weapon holster on the leg.
But from the waist up, Cap’s suit is fairly distinct. The suit only has one large piece of armor, located on Cap’s chest. The rest of his upper-half is covered in a jacket with a tall collar. This jacket is covered in long red, white, and blue stripes, imitating the color scheme of the hero’s iconic shield, which remains comic accurate in this version.
Though both video game versions of Captain America feature cel-shaded outlines to capture that comic book aesthetic, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls‘ design also takes inspiration from anime and manga, which can be most clearly seen in Cap’s face model.
Captain America’s Moveset in Marvel Tokon and Marvel Rivals
While Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and Marvel Rivals belong to very different gameplay genres, their versions of Captain America share some similar moves. Based on the reveal trailer, Marvel Tokon‘s Captain America moveset seems to revolve around hand-to-hand combat, with punches, kicks, and shield bashes all being used by him in the trailer. Cap also has an assist move where he throws his shield at the opponent, and a special move that sees him slam his shield into the ground. Of course, Cap also uses his shield to block oncoming attacks.
Marvel Rivals‘ version of Captain America has a relatively similar moveset, with his primary fire consisting of jabs and shield throws, and his abilities allowing him to use his shield to block and deflect damage as well as bash enemies.
