Materials are collectible items you can pick up off the ground in Fantasy Life i, but if you’re trying to forge a new weapon or armor, then you’ll need to gather materials using your Gathering Lives (Woodcutter, Angler, Farmer, and Miner). As you unlock higher-level crafting recipes, you’re going to need more materials per recipe. While you can gather them using Gathering Lives or defeat monsters with your Combat Lives, it’s sometimes better to outright purchase the required materials if you have the dosh. By mid-late game of Fantasy Life i, you should have enough dosh to spend at the many stores in Reveria.

Every Material Shop in Reveria

Shop Locations in the Past

Fantasy Life i has four types of shops:

• Tool
• Armory
• Restaurant/Tavern
• Material

As their name indicates, Tool shops are where you can buy non-Good/Great rank tools for your Gathering Lives and your Crafting Lives. If you want armor, weapons for Combat Lives, or weapon/armor crafting recipes, go to an Armory. If you want to stock up on food without having to cook from scratch, go to a Restaurant/Tavern. They sell full meals as well as ingredients, but note that the Taverns at Inns can only be accessed at night. Finally, you have Material stores, which sell all types of materials you can use with your Crafting Lives. Special Material stores will even sell crafting recipes and other exclusive items.

Since you’ll be crafting to level up half of your Lives and completing Life Challenges, you’ll want to know what shop sells which materials. In the Past, there is at least one Material Shop in each settlement.

Mysteria Material Shops

Eternia Village and Capital of Mysteria

Mysteria is the first place you’ll unlock. You’ll have access to two areas: The Capital of Mysteria, and Eternia Village. If you’re just starting your journey, then you’re better off farming materials with your Gathering Lives than purchasing them from the store. Not only will it be cheaper for you, it’s also a good way to grind experience.

The Material Shops in Eternia Village and the Capital sell wares for beginning crafting recipes:

• Eternia’s Material Shop is inside the General Goods hut, near the Mercenary and Cooking Life huts.
• The Material Shop in the Capital is to the right wing on the first “floor” once you cross the bridge.

Faraway Island

Terrasa Farm and Lulab Forest

• Faraway Island’s Material Shop is on Terrasa Farm, which you’ll reach by going through the Lulab Forest by the docks.
• The Material Shop run by the Leafe in the Lulab Forest can be reached by entering Lulab Forest from the Elder Tree (southeast entrance). Go south, then keep going east until you reach the shop.

Tropica Isles

Piccas Resort and Near Profunda Cave

• The Materials Shop at Piccas Resort is north of the docks, right next to the Tools store.
• The “secret” Materials Shop is in the area where you looked for clues for Kikyo. It’s the island south of the top-left island where Rem needed to rest. Alternatively, you can go up two “islands” from Profunda Cave or Yohoho Cavern.
